We had a bad experience with our reservation at Gyu-Kaku. Our reservation for 2 was at 7:30pm. We checked in at 7:20pm and were told that our table was being prepared. When we looked in the seating area at 7:35pm, we noticed that there were ready and empty 2 seat tables. We waited and were not being seated even though it was now 8:00pm. As we waited, we noticed that 3 parties with 7:45pm and 8:00pm reservations were seated before us. I finally decided to check-in with the host again and we were told again, that our table was being prepared and that we would be seated according to the order of the reservation which made no sense. We asked to speak with the manager who then came to the front. Instead of an apology for the delay, he doubled down that we would be seated according to our order. Then when we asked about how the 7:45pm and 8:00pm reservations who arrived later were already seated and he said it was due to the order of check-in, even though we had checked-in at 7:20pm and the other parties had arrived much later. 5 minutes later, we were seated at the same table that had been empty at 7:35pm. I want to stress that we had no issue with our server or our food. The server was great and our food was good. We actually credit our server for saving our night, as we were upset with the situation and almost walked out. Our experience with our reservation and how we were treated prior to being seated was not good. It ruined our mood and our appetite. I would try the restaurant again but we ask management to doublecheck reservations and how the interact with people who are waiting way beyond their reservation time to be seated. Other parties of the same size with later reservation times should not be seated before us.

Great meal, but what made the meal special was our waiter, Eder. Eder was exceptionally helpful, very attentive, and always had a smile. He seemed very happy to be working there. We had a great experience.

My boyfriend and I went for a little date night after someone recommended this place to us and it did not disappoint! it was our first time trying japanese bbq and they will see us again lol

Overall good - however, the server was serving too many tables and therefore we did not get the service from Sean as we deserved as paying customers. In fact, we waited for over 10 minutes to get silverware for the table, finally I got up and went to the kitchen to pick the forks and knives for the table - so there is an opportunity for improvement.
