Hampton Winds Restaurant is the training ground for Northampton's highly-regarded Culinary Arts program. Students in the second half of their studies run the facility under the guidance of skilled executive chefs. The outcome is creative fine dining, including a la carte lunch service and a prix fixe dinner menu. Menu offerings change periodically to reflect the seasons. You are welcome to bring your own wine or beer, however, we do not allow hard liquors or pre made drinks using hard liquors.

Had lunch with my upper bosses. Chef went above and beyond with the preparing gluten free batter so fish & chips could be served as well the Moroccan Chicken dish. A delicious gluten free dessert. A comment was made, "best I've ever had!" Thank you for your attention to us with every detail.

The front of house and service were excellent. It was attentive without being intrusive. Our first course consisted of a crab mournay which while looked quite appealing my wife said was somewhat lacking. I had a very tasteless and extremely hard and DRY bursts and caramelized pear salad. It was without a doubt a failed effort all around. The cheese’s center was hard and dry as opposed to creamy and soft and lacked every the slightest amount of taste. The pear was unripened and did not show any indication of poaching or caramelization. The salad greens were crisp but lacked even the slightest bit of dressing. It was replaced by the Pork belly tostados which were very good and beautifully presented. Dinner arrived and it was at best room temperature. Obviously placed aside after preparation of my appetizer fiasco. My wife had the branzino which upon presentation looked as if it had been left out to dry. It was a deboned single strip of fish resembling jerky more than fish. She explained while it was tasty it was extremely dry. I received my duck breast which was done to perfection and served with a sweet potato hash. It was a definite winner. Our dessert courses were the cappuccino budino and the crème brûlée. The budino was excellent!!! It was perfectly set with just the right balance of flavor and sweetness. The crème brûlée was an unfortunate disappointment. While it was perhaps the most perfectly creamed custard I may have experienced in a crème, it was lacking in even the least bit of vanilla and sweetness. With that slight correction it would have been world class. The menu is prix fixe. $40 for 3 course and $45 for 4 course. The 4th course is your choice of an additional appetizer of dessert. We opted for the 3 course and it was more than sufficient. This restaurant is a culinary school operated in every facet by the students. They take rotations though every part of restaurant operations. The only thing lacking is didactic supervision.
