Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). The menu revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer with grass-fed dry-aged ethically reared beef, sustainable seafood from the South coast and some of the biggest hits from the Hawksmoor New York menu.

Had, as usual an excellent evening here with exceptional service. For the first time ever, both of our steaks came out not as expected and the usual standard - but the service staff quickly took them away and got us a fresh order, which was cooked perfectly. Not only that, they replaced the side orders with fresh ones. Plus free desserts! Above and beyond service and no questions when we complained. Refreshing customer service!

Went on a Sunday for the roast but they had run out at only 5pm which was very disappointing. Wait staff weren’t very attentive. The mains were quite dry and lacking in flavour. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious. All in all, don’t think I’ll be going back.

Hawksmoor is usually my favourite restaurant, however I was disappointed today, and it was for my birthday. Service wasn’t what I would expect in Hawksmoor - the initial greeting wasn’t great, our waiter didn’t seem very knowledgable and didn’t fill us with confidence - and then it was no surprise he got our order wrong. The Sunday dinner wasn’t as nice as usual, I didn’t eat the Yorkshire as it was cold and dry. The red wine was too cold (and took ages to arrive). Overall, about the same standard as our local pub but triple the price!

Website was showing that the express menu was not available on the weekend, however we overheard some mention it in the restaurant. Turns out you can get the express menu “if you request it” which doesn’t seem very honest. Unfortunately our waiter was a little rude to us and not very hospitable. I ordered a medium steak and my friend ordered rare; they have us each others steak, we have were half way through eating the meal when we realised…I go to this restaurant yearly at Christmas but unfortunately this year, we feel it has gone a little downhill.

Over all a really nice experience and our server couldn’t do more for us. Only downfall we were seated downstairs and it was very loud meaning you had to shout at one another to hear eachother.

Rump steak was only just warm, seemed although it had sat for too long. Far to dry and no juice which you wouldn’t expect from such a thick cut. Peppercorn sauce was really watery and not much flavour. From a chefs point of view it was overall very poor food for the money although it was a lovely venue and buzzing atmosphere.
