   Calamari was good but the burger and fries were not. Maybe my expectations were simply too high overall but for the prices, I expected better food and better service.

   Never been to Heck’s despite living in Mayfield/Beachwood my whole life. Stumbled in here on accident after stopping for a glass of wine at Antica. We intended to just stop for cocktails & small bites, but the menu looked so interesting we stayed for dinner and it is now our new favorite spot. I was wary of the strawberry balsamic martini, but wanted to take a risk and try something new. It did not disappoint! A great balance of sweet & savory. My date had the mai tai and loved it. We enjoyed the eggplant dip and the salt & pepper fries, and were so impressed we decided to order dinner. We got a wonderful Brussels Caesar salad that was the perfect size to split, and the short rib with asparagus was to die for. It fell off the bone, was juicy and tender. It was the first time we went out to dinner around here and were genuinely impressed. Their desert menu looked amazing, but we were just too full. The quality of the food versus the price is insane as well. The portion sizes are wonderful, all nice to share, and compared to other places in the area, the food is worth every penny. On top of that, the service and ambiance was awesome. We will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu! Such a happy accident.

   I would not go here for breakfast or brunch. No regular coffee available, omelet is over cooked, potatoes were over cooked, french fries were dried out. No a very interesting menu for breakfast -- too many fancy items and not many simple breakfast items. Fruit on omelet plate was only pineapple. Ordered cappuccino, because they did not serve regular coffee, and it was small and not hot.

   My appetizer was good, my drink was good, my food was good and our Server was good! The ambiance of the restaurant was good. Our party of six was thoroughly satisfied.

   It was Christmas Eve so that may have played into the food. My daughter and I had filet mignon med rare and the meat was done well. Unfortunately, the cheesy scalloped potatoes were a bit on the undercooked, crunchy side. My husband had scallops of which there 5 and nicely seared. Again, his risotto was not cooked well and crunchy. For appetizers we had calamari which were delicious, a bowl of French onion soup and a beet/orange salad which were all good. The salad was large so we all essentially split it. Overall, very good service and great ambiance. Will try it again.

   Wonderful first visit… Except. Oh my gosh. The bathrooms were absolutely horrible. One was out of order- the other was so smelly, dirty and disgusting that one person in my party chose to wait until we got home to use the restroom! Gross!

   The room was a bit chilly. All the rest was mostly excellent. The server did make one mistake, he wished us all a Merry Christmas so I pointed out that he was in BEECHWOOD, and he ought to be more aware in any case of diversity issues. He took that very well, understood the point, wished a Happy Hanukkah to the table — which was appropriate. This is less his fault than it is a failure of staff training.

   They managed a 9 persons multi family holiday get together smoothly. Getting tasty food timely to folks reminiscing with non stop catching up. Our waitress maneuvered unobtrusively and efficiently around the table to get drinks, meal orders and checks accurately. If we meet up in this area again, Heck’s would be our restaurant.
