At Hemmingway's Bistro the menu combines classic French dishes with the freshest Midwest ingredients.
The daily specials reflect the chef's love for fresh seafood. Using mostly East-coast seafood flown in from Boston daily, the chef creates dishes like wild mushroom-crusted halibut on horseradish whipped potatoes and roasted sea bass on Caussoulet beans.
There is also a Parisian seafood bar offering towers of Plateau de Fruit de Mer with fresh oysters, clams, shrimp, and lobster.

What a lovely prie fixé brunch experience right in the heart of Oak Park! Wonderful jazz vocalist and accompanist. I especially enjoyed the Crab Cake Royal, crème brûlée, and Hemingway's Blend tea.

Great meal with excellent service by Rosie and the staff. She even laughed when I asked her whether the Chocolate Mousse had antlers. Seriously, I have going to Hemmingway's for years and I don't think that I've ever had a bad meal there.

Was very excited to try this restaurant before going to a concert across the street. The ambience is lovely and the menu is very traditional french. Service was really slow. We were never offered a refill of drinks, and no one checked on us after the food (eventually) came. In the end we had to ask another server to find ours, so we could request our check. The food was under seasoned, and overall just meh. The onion soup was completely bland, but nicely prepared. The steak frites was soggy fries, and didnt have the traditional hangar steak. The rack of lamb was fine, but the cauliflower gratin was actually lovely. It was a very hefty price tag for underwhelming food, and basically zero service. I would pass on this again in the future.
