Hi-Life Bar & Grill is one of the Upper West side’s most popular and longstanding neighborhood restaurants (est. 1991). Hi-Life's 1930's decor is the backdrop for bar & grill classics like flame-grilled steaks and hamburgers, broiled and seared fresh fish specials, bountiful "Big Bowls" of pasta and entree salads, and last but not least a Sushi/Raw bar. (Hi-Life was the first NYC restaurant to install a traditional sushi bar in a non-Japanese restaurant setting in 1993. Expertly prepared sushi & sashimi at Hi-Life is a natural extension of the classic Raw Bar one might expect in our 1930's environment.)

Hi-Life also serves a "traditional Westside" brunch that features fresh squeezed juices, complimentary blueberry muffins & cinnamon toast as well as a 4.95 brunch cocktail deal.

In the warmer months Hi-Life outdoor seating includes 26 seats along Amsterdam Ave and another 16 seats on our 83rd St side.

What a nice, relaxing evening we had for my 77th birthday. Staff was friendly and helpful and the food was real comfort cuisine. A tad pricey but worth it .

I am a, or was a frequent regular customer of Hi Life restaurant. In fact in the past 3 weeks I had spent over $2000 there. This evening I invited my friend to sit outside and have dinner. To begin with the service was terrible, the food arrived cold, and the order was wrong. My friend left early, I paid the bill. I decided I would enjoy the evening and continue to have drinks outside. After having 2 beers at dinner and 5 martinis later, after waiting a very long time, when I got up all the alcohol hit me. I proceded to leave the restaurant, only to be accosted by the entire staff-yelling at me to pay the bill, threatening to call the police! It was clearly an oversite on my part, because I was over served! They had all my information, because had made a reservation and have been a customer there for years. I gave them my card and paid. Not once did they take any responsibility for their actions, making sure I got home OK. If only just 2 of the staff who forcibly stopped me, had properly served me that night, it would not have happened. They owe me a big apology! Not once did they call to make sure I got home safely.

Always good food and great service. One of our favorite neighborhood spots. A true local gathering spot.

My first time going to Hi-Life. The Hi-Life burger was good, cooked to order; so were the fries. I will return should the occasion arise to do so.

As a long-time UpperWestSider, this has been a constant favorite. Their Eggs Benedict and bloody Mary’s cannot be beat anywhere!

Can’t believe I’ve never dined here before. Met my sister and nephew here for last minute dinner. Friendly and helpful staff; food options a plenty. Food prepared the as requested! 5 stars!
