Higher Ground is a bistro and bar located in Manchester city centre that focuses on seasonality within the UK using produce sourced from local suppliers and producers.

The restaurant is open Wed-Sat at dinner and Thurs-Sat lunch. From 14th November ’24, Higher Ground is opening on Thursday lunchtimes and is now open from 5pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays!

At lunch a £40pp seasonal sharing menu is offered alongside an à la carte menu. At dinner, both an à la carte and a seasonal sharing menu at £58pp are available. Both menus are available when sat at the kitchen bar counter.

We often hold space for walk-ins at the kitchen bar counter so pop by and have some plates and a glass of wine!

Reservations of up to twelve guests are accepted. For parties of 6x guests and over, the seasonal sharing menu is served.

Exceptional food! We had the sharer menu and all courses were absolutely delicious! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the music was just at the right level to cover background chatter but you could hear each other. Cant wait to go back!

We try not to come too often because we’d be in danger of running out of superlatives. The food is always spectacular and we love seeing Joe and the fantastic team as much as they seem to enjoy welcoming us back. Such creative and delicate use of the best and freshest of seasonal ingredients, beautifully presented and lovingly described. Looking forward to our next visit already. Sue and Michael

Everything about this restaurant is exceptional. Every member of staff was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, from the second we arrived at the door until the second we left. We ordered the tasting menu and each dish was explained on delivery to the table. The food was unmistakably fresh, and perfectly cooked and presented. We each ordered a scallop as an extra and it was probably the best I have ever tasted. The ambience was very relaxed and added to a wonderful evening. This restaurant has got it just right. It is not inexpensive, but we both left having had a very positive and enjoyable evening with exceptional food and staff. I can’t wait to visit again. Thank you to all at Higher Ground.

Fantastic food, the quality cannot be faulted. Yet we found something lacking on this our second visit. The extreme concrete pillar obscuring my view of everthing within a 230 degree vista from my perch on the end of the 'kitchen bar counter' left a slightly sour taste in the mouth. As did the repetition; we had visited precisely one year on fron our previous foray, only to find many dishes on the tasting menu delicious,but very much the same as before. The venison course, so wonderfully diverse and abundant in its offering previously was sadly this time reduced to a few slim strips of meat. Whilst wonderful in ltself, we had the prior experience to draw on, and unfortunately, this wasn't as good as last time.

Easily one of the best dining experiences if not the best in the city. The quality of the food, service and drinks are all on a different level to dining rooms with treble the pricing structure. The friendly, relaxed atmosphere only adds to compliment the exceptional quality of the experience, with the attention to detail high despite the relaxed feel. A must visit

Perfect evening with friends, imaginative food, lively atmosphere and friendly service. Great for a casual meal or an occasion.
