Born in the South where a feast means getting messy with friends, the seafood boil, Hook & Reel’s signature, is forking over bold flavors with a down-home feel.

But eating seafood is only part of the fun. Everything tastes better around the table with friends, swapping stories over music, getting down and dirty and eating with your hands – all with a cold drink at the ready, ‘cause that spice ain’t no joke. We set out to share the saucy spirit of the boil with folks everywhere – testing our very own recipes, inspired by fiery Cajun home cooking. The Hook & Reel seafood boil dishes up the “reel” deal – the full backyard boil experience and flavor, with a twist.

I used Open table to make a reservation, because I was Unsure of the status of the restaurant, as we have never been before. Upon arrival, we weren’t greeted very politely, and wasn’t even able to get my words out that I had Put a reservation in, the host just swatted at us and said 2? Looking around I saw It wasn’t that busy so okay I get It, don’t need the reso. Cool. But could have approached that better. When we sat down, it took a while for us to be greeted by our server, though she was very apologetic. For there only to be 10 tables in there, didn’t seem to be enough reason the host couldn’t communicate with the server or maybe she did and forgot. Our ticket time for food was also extremely high, again as it was not busy enough at all for the “kitchen to be backed up.” We watched other tables get their food in a timely manner. I observed almost every server, bartender and host be on their phones as they waited around. they are all young, I get It. But Having a young staff like this, there needs to be a manager who doesn’t like seeing this. The bathrooms could have been spot checked at least, seeing as there was toilet paper on the floors. Though we liked our food, (could have came with at least more than 2 small potatoes and a piece of corn) we ended up not even finishing it and taking it with us. Which I never do with seafood. The music also was to much. Have a variety of cajan music. As a fellow Service Industry personnel, I am So understanding with things that happen in the restaurant. And love trying new places. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back. There needs to be some major changes in management and the staff training before season comes or more negative reviews will pile in. I am glad I did not finalize applying at this place. Because I almost did an interview. (And I never Do reviews because I hate Karen’s) Best wishes y’all!

We had a new waitress. She was friendly, attentive, helpful and made our visit worthwhile.

We started with 1/2 dozen raw oysters and 1/2 dozen steamed oysters in garlic sauce and they were incredible! My parents and I each had a crab leg boil. My dad and I had the combo snow crab and Dungeness crab legs in the garlic butter sauce, my mom had the mini snow crab boil, and they were delicious!!! The prices were really great as well!

We went for a birthday dinner after my parents attended the restaurant and absolutely loved it! I enjoyed my time there the birthday girl loved it as well. We had one of the delicious seafood boils. I loved it! This will definitely be added as one of my trip destination spots when we visit Hilton Head Island.

Second time here and the peel n eat shrimp are some of best around.

The food here was outstanding....again!!! With the choice of sauce and spiciness, you just can't go wrong here. And the service has always been superb as well. If you have never been here, I strongly suggest you give it a try for some of the best seafood in the area.
