Opened on December 13, 2014 (yes, 12/13/14!) in a historic building at the corner of Woodward and Canfield. The Huma Room on the second floor features half of a black 1973 Cadillac Fleetwood mounted behind the wall and an outdoor patio. Located on Woodward Ave, it's easy to jump on the QLine or walk down to Little Caesars Arena, Comerica Park, or Ford Field.

HopCat was founded on the principles of bringing local craft beer a bit closer to the communities we love. We’re known for our award-wining Cosmik fries, which are beer battered, sprinkled with our signature cracked black pepper seasoning, and served with a side of warm cheese sauce. From burgers to tacos, our menu offers a range of delicious options.

We live the craft lifestyle - beer, cocktails and even craft food made from scratch. With a dedication to local breweries, sustainability and community engagement, HopCat offers craft beer and great food in a vibrant atmosphere for an inclusive, unforgettable experience.

Samantha, our server, is a delight. She remembered us from a prior visit, which, needless to say, makes us feel good. She is efficient, welcoming, friendly, and professional. The corned beef sandwich is very good, also.

Our food came out extremely late causing us to make it to our comedy show late. However, the manger compensated and was very apologetic.

I heard someone raving about the ‘Cosmik Fries’ so we decided to try HopCat. I did my research and saw that it’s best to make reservations beforehand. We made a 4 o’clock reservation, arrived at 3:50 and weren’t sat until 4:20 when I asked why 3 parties who arrived after us were sat before us. Our server came over and made zero eye contact & although she did nothing wrong she wasn’t exceptionally friendly or what I would expect a server to be from the upbeat atmosphere. The food was alright, lukewarm but tasted fine & the cosmik fries were nothing to brag about or even want again. The bill was a comfortable price, what I would expect to pay for dinner. The server brought us $1 less than what our change should have been, which I assumed an honest mistake so I didn’t mention it & still left an 18% tip. All in all, it wasn’t so bad we regret it or want a refund but bad enough we won’t ever go back. Large parties and people who are drinking are prioritized over smaller families having casual dinner. The host and servers seemed overwhelmed and pulled in multiple directions, I’m an understanding person & I don’t believe we were intentionally forgotten or mistreated but every customers experience counts in hospitality and this is my honest review and experience at this restaurant.

Upon waiting 45 minutes for food, it was discovered that there was a "mix-up" in the kitchen. Pretty sure that the food, including the appetizer, was never rang in. The server (Jasmine) never offered another drink upon seeing our beers half-empty. In fact, we never saw her for the entire 45 minutes after she took our food order. The manager did make it right and covered the cost of the drinks that we did receive.

Food & drinks were good except the texture of the chicken sandwich was off. It was way too chewy.

Overall Hopcat is a good value. Hopcat has a bar type menu. Good atmosphere. Good wait staff. The food did not take too long to come out and Hopcat does not break the bank! This is our second year in a row dining there for Valentines Day. Keep up the good work Hopcat!

Delicious food and great service. We had a table upstairs right by the windows, so really enjoyed the ambiance too.
