The original HopCat location is located in a historical building downtown Grand Rapids. Steps from Van Andel Arena, GLC Live at 20 Monroe, and the Grand Rapids Art Museum, our restaurant features a dog-friendly outdoor patio, oversized wooden bar, and comfortable seating.

HopCat was founded on the principles of bringing local craft beer a bit closer to the communities we love. We’re known for our award-wining Cosmik fries, which are beer battered, sprinkled with our signature cracked black pepper seasoning, and served with a side of warm cheese sauce. The fries were fantastic, but that was all. Everything thing else we had a really not great. The location is good and easy to get to but I will probably not be back.

This was our 1st visit to a Hop Cat and knew it was going to be loud. That would be the only negative I felt we need to mention, but overall we loved the place. Food was great, our server, Julia, was great. Everyone must try the Fries! Great beer selections, too! My husband had the Chicken Bowl and I had the Steak quesadillas and they were both very good. We will definitely go back.

Service was good, food was ok but did not wow any of us. The Mac and cheese lacked any flavor and the sauce was super thin. Drinks were good, overall a decent dinner during the busy holiday season, but not noteworthy in anyway.

We had a reservation. We were running late and they held the table. We ordered drinks and water. Waited 35 minutes for water and drinks. Even after asking just for water while we wait for the drinks.. waitress was very nice. Overall the service was lacking.

Bartenders were painfully slow. We got out appetizers before we got our drinks from the bar. It was frankly pathetic since they were moderately busy at best. Makes me not want to go back to this location.
