HopCat returned to Royal Oak in 2023 at the corner of Main and 4th Street. The expansive space features multiple sidewalk patios and a massive wrap-around bar. We’re just down the street from the Royal Oak Theatre, Oakland Community College, Stagecrafters Baldwin Theatre, and the Royal Oak train station.

HopCat was founded on the principles of bringing local craft beer a bit closer to the communities we love. We’re known for our award-wining Cosmik fries, which are beer battered, sprinkled with our signature cracked black pepper seasoning, and served with a side of warm cheese sauce. From burgers to tacos, our menu offers a range of delicious options.

We live the craft lifestyle - beer, cocktails and even craft food made from scratch. With a dedication to local breweries, sustainability and community engagement, HopCat offers craft beer and great food in a vibrant atmosphere for an inclusive, unforgettable experience.

We came for a Valentine's brunch and had a great time. The strawberry basil margarita pitchers are amazing and the new brunch menu slaps! Our waiter Sam was attentive and very kind. We will be back!

Service was awful. Rarely saw the Waitress, had to ask for from the hostess and still took 10 minutes. We were there 2 hours

The waitress was nice. Service was slow. The place was almost empty and everything took forever…the drinks…the food…the check.

We came here to celebrate our daughter‘s 18th birthday. The service was fantastic. Our server, Muriel, was very attentive and was super awesome with our kids. The food was really delicious and the beverage choices were top notch. Definitely back coming here.

The BBQ chicken salad was way overdressed. The cheese curds were pretty salty. And our waitress straight up disappeared for ~30-40 min, during which time I had to go to the bar twice (to ask for ketchup/mustard and more water). I've had much better experiences here, and they weren't even that busy last night! I had also requested in my OpenTable reservation to be sat at a table with 4 chairs, which they completely ignored by putting us in a booth; we could have asked to move, but we were trying to be amenable patrons. I had also sent a special request in OpenTable messages that they never read/responded to (so I'd recommend just calling instead). Lots of lessons learned tonight ...
