   We always enjoy an evening at Hualani’s - be it Happy Hour or a lovely dinner. Celebrated my birthday last night and the three of us had a wonderful experience. As always - the views are stunning (saw some whales) and the service and food are impeccable. Started with our favorite appetizer - Ahi Sashimi. Fantastic. Cocktails - I always enjoy their Old Fashioned and my daughter LOVED their special martini (I tried it - fantastic!). As it is Winter and a bit chilly (we joke - but we wished we had long sleeves last night as we have acclimated since we moved here a few years ago) - we all loved the French Onion soup. Dinners included some favorites: my wife had the curry and my daughter had the filet - both very tasty. I decided to not get my regular favorite (Dynamite Kona Kampachi) and instead went with the Prawn Fettuccine - and added a side of lobster. It was quite nice - though I did miss the Kampachi as it is one of my favorite island meals.

   Incredible dinner! A beautiful setting and very busy last night but exceptional place! We had the lobster tempura which was sublime and the exquisite kampachi and and the melt in your mouth filet mignon and that delectable lobster tail! Perfection! Plus wine and lovely desserts and the evening was perfect! Our server Danielle was wonderful and attentive and kind! The best!

   Lauren was great - took very good care of us and even offered to take pics for us since the ambiance outside was gorgeous. We ordered from the pupus menu; coconut shrimp, watermelon salad and whole fried kampachi. All great. Will definitely come back

   We dined at Hualani’s last night for my wife’s birthday, and while the ambiance and service were outstanding, the food was a major letdown. We ordered a filet mignon and a ribeye, both medium rare. Unfortunately, the filet came out so overcooked it resembled a hockey puck and had to be sent back. The ribeye was also overdone but just on the edge of being tolerable. To their credit, the restaurant manager was very apologetic and immediately had a new filet prepared, personally ensuring it was cooked to expectation. His attentiveness was appreciated, but it didn’t change the fact that the initial execution was disappointing. As for flavor, it was underwhelming. The seasoning seemed to consist solely of salt and garlic, leaving the dishes flat and uninspired—especially for a restaurant at this price point. Again, I want to emphasize that the service was excellent, and the setting was beautiful. However, the overall experience fell short, especially for what was meant to be a special occasion.

   Truly a 5 * meal! We enjoyed 3 pupus including 7-spice ahi sashimi that was SO fresh and delectable, light and tasty avocado kale salad, and blackened scallops in a magnificent sauce. My husband and I shared the honey roasted chicken which was tender and accompanied by delicious mashed potatoes and bok choy from the restaurant’s garden. Our son loved the dynamite Kona compache fish and his friend raved about the prawn fettuccini. We topped it off with the warm chocolate cake which is my fav lava-type cake on the island. Service was stellar, as usual. Our server, Naoshi, was attentive, professional, friendly, caring, knowledgeable, and patient. And he had only worked there 2 months! His assistant was also magnificent, with an eye on our plates to remove them not a minute too soon so we never felt rushed, yet the table always looked beautiful. Live Hawaiian music was an unexpected bonus, as was a short hula performance we all appreciated greatly. The singer/guitar player was very talented and while his beautiful voice projected, we were still able to have dinner conversation.

   Everything was amazing, as it always is. Breena what’s great, attentive, kind, positive, and caring. And she extended your, kama’aina without even being asked! I always appreciate the extended courtesy for living here.

   Fish and ribs were amazing! Fettuccini was good but not outstanding. Our server was wonderful. We did have wait 20 minutes past our reservation time to be seattbut it was worth the wait! Highly recommend this restaurant!

    We had the most incredible dinner at Hualani’s. From the service, ambiance, food, wine, view, and the live music…it was truly the perfect way to end our stay in Kauai. Absolutely recommend !!
