   Hydra is one of my 3 favourite restaurants in Vancouver. It never disappoints. This time we had the Hydra platter with lamb chops... perfectly done (medium, as the chef recommends) and deliciously spiced, as were the veggies. There were enough chops to take some home. We have had the chicken platter (also large portions), and next time we are looking forward to the Souvlaki platter which looks so good! Great service too.

   Usually a good experience but today was not. Table service was friendly but very poor and slow. Service time to order was slow, wine delivery was forgotten completely, first course was delivered after seated for 1 hour. After 1.5 hours we had only first course and wine served and we asked for the food ordered to go. Server acknowledged and dropped only 15% off the bill. After 2 hours spent, an important business meeting ended in embarrassment and we left hungry with lunch in a bag. Very disappointed.

   Enjoyed lunch menu and friendly service rendered. Food was delicious and cooked well. Restaurant setting and ambience was nice too.

   Excellent service and exceptional food as usual. Hydra has consistently kept the quality of its menu items. It was busy place when we visited and attention to service was maintained.

   Firstly I was sent 2 emails to confirm the reservation followed by a text to confirm the reservation, which at that point I confirmed it. Minutes later the restaurant sent a personalized SMS asking me to confirm it again! When I arrived my guest was already seated and she said when she was seated she was told quite rudely TWICE within a few minutes that we only had the table for 2 hours and had to leave by 8:15. The service sucked, the tables were too close to others and the food was not tasty at all. The hummus and dips are better at the grocery store and the lamb chops were extremely bland. I had been there years ago and while it was great years back, I will never go back here and would never recommend to anybody. Awful.

   Exceptional food and wonderful choices of beverages. The staff was great with the kids and could recognize when to check in with parents about drink options. Our server was excellent at recognizing when we needed more time, when we needed help, and who to talk to in order to minimize disruptions or interruptions. The meats and seafood were prepared to perfect finishes. Portions suggested were reasonable and the overall bill was actually quite reasonable for a meal of this calibre.

    Disappointed with attention to detail. Reception was not aware that half our party was seated at upstairs table so I waited downstairs to greet them for over 10 minutes. We ordered hummus and specifically asked that it not be served with paprika - it then arrived covered in Paprika. Coffee was served cold and also had to be sent back. Waiter had poor English and was difficult to understand. This is a beautiful location and patronized by good people - they can try a little harder.
