   made reservation but when we got there, restaurant was completely full. hostess lied to us and said they were just "cleaning tables" and asked us to wait at the bar. 15 minutes later we see a couple leave their table and we were seated a few minutes later. don't mind waiting but don't appreciate being lied to. hostess should have just apologized for not having our table available at our reservation time and offered maybe a comp appetizer or something. poor training, bad decision. otherwise, experience was good, food was very good.

   The menu is very restrictive for a chain like Il Fornello. I asked to substitute pasta for the potatoes on my Veal order and they wanted to upcharge me $10. The amount of pasta you would normally get would cost 36 cents. My wife's Pasta was verging on raw and tastless. She did not ask for a refund but the server made the decision to take it off the bill. Thank heavens she did not ask the cook. The server was the most positive thing about the place. Oh and the wine was very good, Chenin Blance from South Africa

   Il Fornello is a wonderful addition to the Sherwood Village Mall, with the Rally now open I will be here often. Enthusiastic staff, great food, they are working hard to deliver what I’ve come to expect from Il Fornello over the last 30+ years downtown and Oakville. They’ve worked hard to “get it right” since opening this past summer. I will too often be picky about a few things: tonight it’s the chill air that can blow into the front room; and the wrong tools to go with the well prepared lobster that accompanied delicious spaghetti (needed a lobster fork & I think it was a walnut cracker provided to crack the lobster shell). Easy parking out front and with close proximity to the QEW some of my Toronto friends should be crossing the 427 for some pickleball (Rally) and lunch or dinner afterwards!

   Thank you for the review and feedback. You will be happy to hear we have addressed the air flow into the front area and is now nice and toasty at all times with no breeze! I can definitely appreciate needing the right tools. Crackers- walnut/ crab/lobster are all very much the same, however we can definitely look into the forks.    Loved this place! The vibe was awesome, the food was excellent, the service attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend, especially the table by the fireplace. A 10/10!

   Very nice restaurant - decor is beautiful - service was good - but food fell short of our expectations - I had the lobster spaghetti and I think I got 3 little pieces of lobster out of the shell - it was Sunday and the pasta was on special - but if I had to pay regular price of $35 - I would be upset with the dish. My husband had a pizza - and he was disappointed also - he said it was mediocre. We might try the brunch in the weekend as they have a couple of interesting features but we may not return for dinner since we have other Italian spots we go to that has better food.

    Great addition to the neighborhood. Food has been excellent and service is fast. Kids meals are reasonably sized and are of great value. Servers are attentive and we will continue to come back unless anything changes drastically. Hoping to make it back for their happy hour one day?
