Iris is named for the celebrated Mediterranean flower, and as a gentle nod to the “Evil Eye”, a regional legend known to ward off evil and bring great luck. Located in an iconic building of Midtown Manhattan, Iris is a restaurant that aims to showcase the best preparations of the Eastern Mediterranean region. The ambition behind this culinary initiative is to focus on the style of eating rather than the provenance of each dish. Approachable, wholesome and minimally manipulated, the cuisine will show another facet of the ingredient-forward cuisine that has built John Fraser’s reputation.

My friends and I went to Iris after a show. There were (6) of us ladies. It is a lovely place with excellent service and food. We started with the hummus, olives, tzatziki sauce, stuffed grape leaves, pita bread appetizer. We ordered extra bread but the accouterments were more than enough to share It was amazing, the bread was so light and delicious, couldn't get enough. Then we had the winter salad. Crisp, fresh, lightly dressed (hate when they over dress a salad) and enough that we all shared it. I had the branzino for dinner, and once again, no disappointment there. It was one of the best cooked fish I have had. No one had a negative thing to say about their meal-everyone loved their food. This is definitely a place I will be going back to!

Great food as always, fabulous ambience and cannot miss octopus. If you’re having a dry January; don’t fret. The warm sorrel drink and phony Negroni will make you want to continue to have a dry February!

The food is fantastic as are the drinks. While the decor is minimal, the space is luxurious and tables and booths are well spaced . The music on a recent visit was not as good as it has been in the past.

Highly underrated restaurant. The service was amazing and they were highly accommodating to our larger party. Every dish we ordered, without exception, was tasty, unique and well presented

We found the food excellent, the duck was particularly good, and the fish was very fresh. We also liked the humus and eggplant appetizer, although it was a bit too much. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We highly recommend Iris.

As soon as you walk into Iris, you are treated well. Our server Alicia, was outstanding. The food was delicious. We had the Branzino and swordfish. Although there was ample Branzino, wish there was more delicious swordfish on the plate to be had. Overall excellent experience !
