Isabella Billson’s story is somewhat unknown…

In the mid 1850’s women weren’t part of the public picture. We know that she accompanied her husband George as they moved from England to California in search of fortune amongst the goldfields. The chase then took them to Bendigo, Australia, before Beechworth. Here they built a brewery, a business, a brand and a legacy that has lasted until today.
We toast Isabella with the finest spirits, crafted into contemporary cocktails by our talented staff. Her gin - a specialty small batch spirit aged for 3 months in Muscat barrels - appears in the signature 50/50, a gentle approach to a classic martini.

Chef Douglas Elder’s seasonal menu of dishes to to share provides the perfect match. The wine list is exclusively sourced from the surrounding wine regions of Beechworth, Rutherglen and the King Valley.

Six of us ventured to Isabellas on a cool Autumn evening. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. A broad range of food was available, presented Tapas style. We enjoyed each of the dishes on offer and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Several of us will return to Beechworth just to enjoy Isabellas again.

Such a lovely dining experience. We loved it. The ambience was subdued & relaxing. Nice, quiet & peaceful. The service from the staff was excellent. The food outstanding & delicious. We couldn't fault anything. Had a very enjoyable evening. Highly recommend Isabellas.

Nice venue for a date night or small group. All the food we tried (and we tried the whole menu) was delicious and the staff had good suggestions for drinks.

Creative cocktails, superb local wines and amazing food. All in a sophisticated and funky atmosphere. Brilliant!

This lovely restaurant has a great vibe and interesting food. Although, as much as the food is nice, they are very small serves for the price. The staff are friendly and helpful.
