Situated in Lakeview's iconic Southport Corridor, Itoko is a neighborhood Japanese and robata restaurant from Gene Kato, Executive Chef of Momotaro. “Itoko” meaning “cousin” in Japanese, refers to the connection with Momotaro, located in the Fulton Market District. The menu features the high level of ingredients and technique that Chicago has come to expect from Chef Kato, alongside a beautiful interior curated for the Southport neighborhood. The menu itself features uniquely interpreted sushi rolls that allow the high-quality fish to be the star of the sushi experience. In addition, an innovative beverage menu with a focus on cocktails & highballs highlights the relationship between the technique of the food created by the kitchen and how this is complimented by the beverage selection.

We went to Itoko to celebrate our engagement. The food was delicious and the staff took such great care of us and made the night one to rememebr!

This was our second visit to Itoko, both experiences were fantastic! On both occasions we described our preferences to the server and both times, we were blown away with the selection and quality of each dish. It’s apparent that the restaurant’s staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their process and presentation. Some of the best nigiri I’ve ever had. I would recommend Itoko for any occasion you wouldn’t mind repeating.

Itoko has really delicious food and a great vibe. The nigiri, rolls, and sashimi are of the highest quality and truly delightful; and the robata and other cooked offerings are also delicious. A real gem.

I have worked as a bartender and server in restaurants for almost a decade. This is one of the best meals I’ve had in Chicago. I think it’s top 3 best sushi in the city that I have had. Cocktails were amazing, service was kickass. Loved every minute of it.

Very great happy hour deals here, a little expensive for regular dining in my opinion. Drinks were amazing and the bartenders were so nice.
