Been wanting to try Itta Bena for quite some time so we finally went for my bday and while it was good food and fun to be downtown I felt like something was missing. The decor felt historic and the live music added a nice touch. Our server was friendly and provided great service. One of the food runners looked miserable when she delivered our salads. I loved the bacon appetizer and the Seabass. The Keylime pie was a perfect ending to the meal. Despite my husband letting them know it was my birthday in the reservation and asking for a special table, he still had to remind them, and they brought out a candle and wrote happy birthday on the plate - I don’t think that would’ve happened unless he had said something. All of the other dinners seemed fairly casual, and the restaurant was not very crowded at 7 PM on a Saturday night, which seemed odd. (Just compared to other Memphis restaurants who usually make it a little bit more special that was a miss for me. ) I might come back with out-of-towners and then go downstairs for live music but would probably skip for a date night/special occasion and pick a different restaurant.

Before last night , I hadn’t hadn’t visited itta bena in years . I chose to visit last night primarily due to vicinity to an event I was attending at the Westin a few blocks away just prior. It was in the 30s outside and I wanted a short walk more than anything. I have never had a bad experience at Itta Bena, That being said, it was an amazing dining experience , they have raised the bar in service and food since my last visit. Kudos!

Shrimp & grits were outstanding, as was the she-crab soup. Cajun pasta was a hit too. Too bad service was poor ... no follow up, forgot part of order.

We had a wonderful experience. Our server was excellent. She was very friendly and attentive. She made excellent suggestions. Our meal was awesome. The filet was cooked perfectly. The shrimp and grits were excellent. The Cajun pasta was flavorful and delicious. The Cajun shrimp with Abita beer bread was incredible. We finished up with bread pudding and creme brulee. Both were very good. Highly recommend this restaurant.
