J Carver's Oyster Bar & Chophouse features market fresh oysters & premium wood grilled steaks. Nestled in West 6th District of Downtown Austin, John Carver, Owner and Chef delivers an elevated classic fine dining experience featuring a gorgeous raw & oyster bar and intimate dining experience.

In order to honor all reservations booked, we ask that all bookings adhere to our suggested dining time frame. Please contact our reservationist if you have additional questions. Our time frames are as follows
2 people - 2 hours
3 people - 2 hr 15 minutes
4-5 people - 2 hr 30 minutes
6-7 people - 2hr 45 minutes
8+ people - 3 hours

    J Carver is the spot to be. Weekday or weekend, you have the vibe, the service and the high level of food there. One of the top spots in Austin, don’t wish yourself there, get there and enjoy it.

    Exceptional place and food. They accommodated our request for a romantic evening - they put flowers (at no cost) on the table and gave a free dessert.

    Food was amazing. We really enjoyed the crab cake, the Italian garlic bread was delicious and probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever had! The star of the show has to be the bananas foster bread pudding with praline ice cream…AMAZING!

    The food is excellent! Great steak, chicken, tuna tartare and chocolate cake for dessert. Amazing bread. Chris was our waiter and took care of everything. Downside is that it is very expensive.

    The host made everyone feel at home. We were 6 people then 8 then 10 then 8 again and they kept moving things around to accommodate us which is something not every restaurant would. Not to mention the food was amazing, half the table now drinks new drinks because of recommendations and on top of that, the service was amazing. Great place. Go out of your way to go here.
