   Generally, the place is great and service good. Our server screwed up on main meal by bringins a steak that was not cooked the way we requested.

   We are regulars almost every weekend. Music was different tonight. Sounded like AM radio and something you’d hear at Dave and Busters. Please bring back NOLA jazz, big band, other jazz, etc. Just not the same vibe without it. Really missed hearing NOLA jazz playing outside at entrance. That’s what drew me into J&H’s for the first time around a year ago.

   The food was delicious. We had the crab cake, shrimp and crab gumbo and etouffee and all were very well executed. Service was very friendly but a little slow. I think it had to do with us getting sat between a table of 5 and table of 6 for our server. We will definitely return and look forwarding to trying the steaks.

   There were literally vacuuming and closing down the restaurant within business hours and people still eating. The attentiveness was pretty bad too. Had to pour my own wine the entire dinner. The waitress seemed a little clueless on the menu. A lot of potential so hopefully they can clean this up!

   We were excited to try this place for Valentine’s Day dinner! The ambiance and energy was perfect for date night, and every employee we interacted with was kind and accommodating. The food was good, but didn’t knock our socks off. The steak frites by far was the best thing we ate, so I would consider that a must-order, as well as the cajun style old fashioned cocktail. The cheeseburger was just okay, and the mac and cheese was right in the middle of the road for us too. I do think the drinks were a tad expensive, but everywhere is charging NYC prices nowadays.

   Katie, our server was fantastic! It was so personable and gave great recommendations. We got the Rockefeller oysters, trout dip, parmesan crusted fish, and USDA prime rib. 10/10
