We have eaten here many times. We come to Deadwood for my wife's birthday, and always eat at Jakes. This time our server, took 20 min to even stop by our table. She asked for our "drink order" we had already ordered them from the host?? She then asked if we wanted to order, I said we wanted to have our drinks first, she left in a huff. 15 min later she reapeares, and askes "you ready for food" OK we order. I order Escargot, I love it here. She brings it out in the right presitation, EXEPT not with a cocktail fork BUT an ice tee spoon???????? New one on me Our food is delivered by the host?? not our waitress, that's fine. Waaitress never checkes on us. Not good at this level. We are about done, she apears, and states"you get a desert free for your birthday, "what you want" OK short but OK. We order, she deliveres the food. My wife (her bisrtday) is about 1/2 done with her cake, the waitress runs over, with a candel and a lightrt. states I forgot, and pops the candel in my wife's 1/2 eaten cake an lights it and walks away???????????? The food and room at Jakes are great, the service has gone way down hill

This was our first time visiting Jake's Fine Dining. It's at the top of the Midnight Star...so you can either take the elevator or climb 3 flights of stairs like we did. The restaurant is super cute up there and has windows overlooking the main drag. We got a table with a window so had that view. The floor below us had a Bingo game going on with very loud music, so the floor and chairs were vibrating...that was probably the most annoying part of the evening, but people were having fun and winning money. You always knew when someone had Bingo. The place was pretty busy for winter time. We loved our table as it was kind of private. The restaurant was pretty clean. They could clean the floors better under the tables, but really a beautiful restaurant overall. We ordered a special, which were a Wagyu Ribeye with Asparagus and mashed potatoes. The other dish was a mixed variety of meats (lamb, venison and bison). The ribeye was really good...got two spears of asparagus, so not much. The mashed potatoes weren't anything to write home about. I would prefer a risotto dish for sure. There was a brown gravy on the steak and around the potatoes...like from a can. It was terrible so was trying to scrape it off...def ask for no gravy. The mixed platter was good. Had a little piece of Foie gras on the dish. The potatoes were boring and again, very little veggies, but the meat was very good. Our server was "Johnny on the spot" and took very good care of us. He was pleasant with a nice sense of humor and did a very good job. We ordered both of the creme brulee desserts; vanilla and chocolate. The vanilla was very standard. The chocolate was super thick. I would have loved to mix in some homemade whipped cream into it to make it creamy, but the taste was good. We left stuffed and satisfied and would definitely visit again.

Entire experience was 5 star 🌟 !!! Our waitress appeared to be the only one, waiting on all tables with grace and efficiency. The gentleman helping her, refilling waters, clearing plates, etc., was also very kind, polite and attentive. Every course was delicious, cooked perfectly, and the best filet we've every had. Thank you!

We have dinned here before with great food and service but our last experience was sub par. Maybe they were just not prepared for the rush of people that night. Not a Jake’s experience we have had in the past.

Fantastic service and food. There were a few patrons that appeared to have consumed too many adult beverages and were very loud, which negatively impacted the ambiance.
