We had a pre Christmas festive meal. The choices were very varied and it was difficult to choose. The venison pie was very tasty. All the meals were nice and hot although the temperature in the room was cool so the food cooled quickly. Service was nice and friendly and they did everything they could to make our meal a good experience

The setting was lovely, but the temperature in the building was a bit on the cold side. We ordered from the special lunch menu which was good value for money.

Soo disappointed today, the food was nothing like we had experienced on a previous visit recently. The steak was so over seasoned I couldn't eat it, left my mouth and lips burning for a long time and the elderly gentleman we had brought with us, normally we would have ordered a sweet and coffee but went home instead. Our friends had travelled up from Cornwall and had sked to revisit the Jolly Roger having so enjoyed their last visit. Should have listened to my daughter who visited the previous week and said they had had a poor meal after my recommending it for a 16th birthday meal.

The Sunday roast was delicious, very good value for money. Our group of 6 were very happy with the main course, but 1 person was very disappointed with the apple crumble dessert and it was not a crunchy crumble, more like soft hot oats on top. But for the price and taste, the Jolly Roger gets a big thumbs up from me.

Amazing staff always friendly and helpful-surroundings perfect, we are from london visiting our daughter and granddaughter, lovely place to meet up!

Nice location and setting. Staff were pleasant and food was served in a reasonable length of time. Fair portion size. I had the three meat Sunday roast dinner. Meat was nice however the roast potatoes were obviously frozen and not the “sea salt and rosemary roast potatoes “ as advertised. Other vegetables were ok. Good drinks selection was good. Overall ok but nothing stunning
