Jordyn’s Soul Café is a premier soul food restaurant in Houston, Texas; expanding on our two thriving locations in Chicago to bring our home-cooked dishes and fresh ingredients down to Texas. Owner Angel McDonald opened up this business in honor of her late daughter, Jordyn. Angel has been working in the restaurant industry for many years and has always had a passion for cooking. The recipes she serves at Jordyn's Soul Café are close to her heart and have been passed down by her mother. Angel is dedicated to providing her customers with delicious food that is made from scratch daily, using only the freshest ingredients. She takes pride in providing customers with quality service and ensuring that all dishes served are prepared with care and love. Soooo much fun!!! The owner came by… it’s a family joint! Loved it! Check on us multiple times. The oxtails and yams… OMG!!!! Whew! The Chi came to Houston and represented!I’ll be back!

We visited on 3/1/2025 and I must say I was very impressed with the quality and atmosphere and service that was provided. We ordered a variety of things ranging from the pot roast empanadas to the jerk chicken with mac and cheese and yams and let’s not forget the cabbage. We also had the peach cobbler that was recommended by Jasmine our waitress who was outstanding. I will most definitely be back very soon…

I don’t know where to start first, the overall experience was 10/10 and I have found a new spot that I will put my people on….The drinks was amazing, the food was fulfilling and the portions are beyond enough for a grown man to have leftovers….the staff made you feel like family and informative on the menu even gave a history of the beautiful owner Angel herself who was also pleasant just like the atmosphere….i highly recommend all walks of life to come and experience a taste of Chicago at Jordyn’s Soul Food!!!!

Jordyn’s is exceptional! The food is soooo good! We had the deviled eggs (sweet but needs relish), the fried wings (seasoned to perfection), the jerk wings (spiced just right) and the waffles (sweet cornbread waffle crispy on the outside and tender on the inside). CJ was our server and didn’t miss a beat! She timed our small bites and entrees perfectly. Very attentive service and delicious food! We are definitely coming back for dinner…and brunch…again and again!

I rarely leave reviews, but I had a great time at Jordyn’s Soul Cafe. I was skeptical about the reviews at first, but decided to go experience the restaurant myself. Aesthetically the place looks amazing, Music was created a nice vibe with the R&B playing, customer service from the waitress & owners was great. Although our food took about 35-40 minutes due to it being a lot of people there at the time we came, we remained patient. During the wait time, our waitress would inform us about the wait time but if we needed anything to let her know. Once we got our food, it was hot, fresh, and delicious. The catfish, Mac and cheese, and yams were fire. The owner accommodated my date and I to free desert due to the wait time. Carmel Cheesecake and the peach cobbler were the star of the show, especially if you have a sweet tooth. After our meal, me and the owner I believe or manager talked about my experience at the restaurant and his love for the Chicago bears baseball team. Overall my date and I had a great experience! Don’t let the reviews fool you, try it for yourself first before missing out on this spot because it will get popular fast! Thank You for the great service, and I will be back!

Unorganized is the most positive thing i can say, other than the food was great. Sucks because it took over 2 hours to get it. They were walking around asking the whole restaurant who got what, we finally got our food and they gave my partner the wrong food and it was cold. Host was rude and quick with all responses. No one knew where to go what they were doing. The food was amazing but wouldn’t go again.

Well we had a reservation for 7:30 and we left 2 and a half hours later having only had appetizers and water. Our food was taking forever to come out, all the wait staff was running around looking dazed and confused talking about its only their second day being open & the kitchen was backed up. We never even got our alcoholic drinks 2 hours after ordering them, so I just assumed the bar was in the kitchen as well. Additionally, the host was rude from the jump and came rushing up to us after we had been standing there for a few mins telling us to “just stand to the side” with a whole attitude. Also she was running food which is insane. Pro tip for management: A host should be at the front at all times. I think they may need to close this location down and train their staff & kitchen to handle a regular night. It was even busy for Saturday standards. But if you actually would like to go to a restaurant and receive the food and drinks you ordered in less than 3 hours I would go somewhere else.
