KIBOU Japanese restaurant and bar in Cambridge is a chic new addition to the city, and the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner.
Located at 7a Jesus Lane, home to the Pitt Club, and formerly Pizza Express, the venue features eye-catching murals and digital animations, alongside stunning Japanese floral and foliage installations.
Light and airy, The Mirror Room centres around a large Japanese cherry blossom tree, whilst the seductive Oak Room focuses on a large wisteria tree set against a backdrop of plush fabrics and artwork.
There’s also a relaxed cocktail lounge and dining area, featuring an open sushi and hot kitchen, and a standalone spirits and cocktail bar.
The menu has all your favourite dishes from Japan, including steaming bowls of ramen, a selection of bao buns, crisp tempura and handmade spiced pork gyoza, plus work of art sushi and sashimi sharing platters, seasonal specials and A5 Grade Japanese wagyu.
Their Japanese-inspired afternoon tea is a must try too!

Teishoku is a traditional Japanese set meal comprising of a: Main plate + Sides + Rice + Soup At KIBOU, our lunchtime Teishoko menu includes classics such as prawn tempura, chicken teriyaki or veggie katsu curry. Served with a bowl of furikake rice, edamame beans, pickles, yamagoyaki (Japanese omelette), goma wakame, and a bowl of homemade miso soup. Had a fabulous weekday lunch here. Wonderful cocktails and the best aubergine I have ever had! One of the courses wasn’t quite as I hoped and the service from the team to address it was outstanding. Would thoroughly recommend and look forward to a return visit very soon.

The food was really enjoyable, however the time it took for the food and particularly the drinks to be served was very disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend and unfortunately wouldn’t visit again.

Our first time in Cambridge and Kibou restaurant. We visited Kibou for an early dinner to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. The ambience of the place is lovely. We were seated quickly, and had plenty to choose from on the menu. A big mention to Roberto the Restaurant Manager who was truly amazing, friendly, polite and knowledgeable. He made our anniversary even more special. A real asset to the restaurant. It was great to try some dishes we'd never tried before, and everything was delicious. We also both had a cocktail each, signature by Gaetano the Bar Manager, very well presented. I had the pleasure to meet him and also get a lucky chance to test one of his cocktails of the month with truffle gin, outstanding, Bravo bravo. When I made the booking I had mentioned our anniversary' so as we finished our meal, Roberto brought out a slice of cake for us which was a nice touch. Friendly staff and very politeI would recommend it, and would definitely go again. Thank you all the team Paolo y Maria
