King Tide Fish & Shell, led by Executive Chef Alexander Diestra, is a riverfront seafood restaurant and bar inspired by the laid-back fishing lodges of family vacations gone by. With sparkling waterfront views of the Willamette, a welcoming energy and a menu that ranges from no-fuss to fancy, here at King Tide we serve fresh, inventive seafood dishes with local ingredients that are uniquely Portland.

There aren't many places that command the vantage point we enjoy here at King Tide, so we like to make sure it lives up to Portland. We do that with a blend of the traditional and the non, the comfortable and the slightly twisted, the satisfying food and the swinging drink.

As we like to say, King Tide is where food & drink & people always complement each other, and everything goes with the view.

After two years of having Thanksgiving Dinner at a large and noisy chain restaurant, we opted for King Tide this year. We had not been here before, and it was a great first impression. It was the perfect low-key Thanksgiving we needed. The food was top-notch, and the service was low-key but just right. We'll definitely be back to try out brunch and maybe lunch or dinner some other time. My son and husband had the turkey dinner special and they were both pleased with the quality of the meal. I ordered the special individual beef wellington along with a wedge salad from the regular menu. I am hooked on the wedge salad - it is the best I have ever had with the flavors/seasoning in the dressing. The beef wellington was great. I had never had beef wellington before (but I've definitely seen recipes for it), but it was delicious. For dessert we each tried a different dessert and shared bites with each other - the King Tide sundae, the Basque cheesecake and the pecan pie. All 3 were great! The restaurant opened at 2pm and our reservation was a 2pm, so there was no wait to be seated and our food arrived quickly.

We went to King Tide for dinner before a show at the Keller. The food was great and the server was very attentive. They even had themed cocktails for the show! The fast service left us plenty of time to walk to the theater.

This should be a wonderful restaurant. The location is perfect: there's decent parking, it's right on the riverfront and waterfront park, etc. And the menu LOOKS delicious. But we've been there twice in the past few months, and clearly they aren't actually committed to doing a good job for their customers. This morning at brunch, one of the Eggs Benedict dishes came without any hollandaise. We had to ask for salt and pepper, and were brought... two peppers. The setups contained only forks and knives, and when we ordered coffee, we were not brought spoons, so I had to stir my coffee with my fork handle. The container with sugar etc for coffee did not contain Splenda, which is a pretty standard sweetener these days (and no, the alternatives aren't the same). Whwn our friends arrived, they stood behind another couple at the entrance for several minutes before finding that no, no one had even greeted the first couple. And the time before this, which I initially excused because it was Mother's Day, we had a similar experience, and one person's dish came half an hour after everyone else's. It really should be wonderful. And the staff couldn't be nicer. But it is not a well-run restaurant. If you actually want a good dining experience, you'll need to look elsewhere.

We loved our first visit to King Tide! Seems like a well kept secret! The food was a perfect combination of classic gourmet and northwest cuisine. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. The space was not too large and so the noise level wasn’t loud, however, we were were seated below a speaker and the music was a tad to loud for simple conversation. All in all a lovely dinner! We will return for the delicious seafood!!!!
