Originally opened by Jane Vobe in 1772, this authentic reproduction public house serves up a transporting experience for the senses in Colonial Williamsburg. Everything is true to the time period at King’s Arms Tavern, from the fashion sported by servers to the pewter candlesticks—all adding to an air of colonial elegance. Inspired by 18th-century recipes, but with updates to suit 21st-century tastes, tuck in to a chophouse menu featuring prime rib, pork chops, and more.

ADA Accessible dining is available in the Purdie Kitchen. Please note this colonial building is separate from King’s Arms Tavern. Please check-in at the front, and our host will escort guests to the Purdie Kitchen.

The taverns are located in the Historic Area, and not on a public street. The Tavern is a short walk from the Tavern Parking lot which is on Francis Street.

We were there on December 8th. We arrived about 20 minutes early, but were welcomed to wait inside. Our meals were delightful. Our waiter was George and he was delightful also. He offered information about each item on the menu and also a glimpse of what colonial diners would have experienced. Overall a wonderful evening!

Knowledgable & fastidious server. Food & service were fantastic: prime rib cooked to perfection, game pie and onion pie. Love the Sally Lunn bread & appetizing presentation.

We were more than 20 minutes after our reservation. One more server is needed in the dining room . Acting and info sharing by staff was excellent. Maitre De should smile and act happy to see us!

Excellent meal. We both enjoyed the salad and salmon courses. Our serving team was friendly, helpful on selections, and we received a bit of tavern history throughout the meal. A must in Williamsburg

Wonderful time in an awesome place. Only negative thing was a family with small unruly children!

I've always had a great meal at the King's Arms. Their focus is on period-correct fare, but the ingredients are adjusted to modern tastes. The historic restaurants at Colonial Williamsburg are a must, and the King's Arms is the place "where the best people resort"

Stephen was wonderful! Very attentive, articulate, and knowledgeable. Our 15 month old son loved him. Food was wonderful! Atmosphere was wonderful! Would definitely recommend to anyone who is interested in history and loved a good meal. The soup was delicious, dinner was second to none, AND the desserts were delicious! It is a must when in town.
