Lovely food, everything we had was really tasty. Service was poor. Polite staff but not attentive. We ended up only having one drink, the second round didn't arrive so bored of waiting we asked for the bill. They took so long to take our order we were ready to order drinks & food together.

Service slow and forgot our order, no apology. We had to ask for everything. Food very spicy for a Japanese. Good music and ambience.

We have been here numerous times and is definitely one of our top places to go! However we took friends and was a little disappointed. Our friends ordered pork belly and was unavailable, also gluten free soya sauce as she has gluten intolerant was unavailable. The cocktail we ordered was unavailable as no wasabi for it! Also, no Saki wine in which we always have. Overall still beautiful food but disappointed with unavailability of items

Our table was booked at 20:15, we ordered just before 9pm and our starters did not come out until 22:16! People who came in long after us had received their food and eaten before we got our starters! The food was nice when it arrived but the delay has put us off coming back

This review is made with a heavy heart as we have been to Koi Ki many times however the last few times we have found the restaurant under staffed and half the drinks menu not available. For example the wine menu doesn't have a good selection they did a wine Chateau Mercian, Koshu Iwasako and a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which are nice wines that are no longer available. We tried the cocktails however not all available due to missing ingredients which leaves the drinks menu very limited. The drinks menu couldn't be left on the table and so we was chasing down drinks menus and when we finally go to order a drink they took ages to come. We had our main meal without a drink. No one came over while we was eating to see if everything was okay. In the end we got the bill and went for drinks elsewhere. The food here has always been amazing. We order the same thing. However that night we found the food overly spicy so it lost all its flavours. Little advice bring back a good selection of wine, put drinks menus on tables like they used to and staff be more attentive to its customers. So unfortunately we will not be returning to Koi Ki.

As a lover of Asian cuisine, I was excited to visit Koi Ki in Harborne after seeing reviews on social media. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing, and I felt misled by the hype… I went there for a girls’ night, expecting an enjoyable evening, but it turned into a frustrating ordeal. We had to wait over 50 minutes for our mains, which is unacceptable - especially given the restaurant wasn’t busy. The atmosphere was cold, both literally and figuratively. The heating seemed non-existent, and we were left shivering throughout the meal. To make matters worse, the staff were incredibly rude and uncooperative. One particular lady behind the bar even brought up the business’s problems, such as being understaffed, making it our problem rather than addressing the issues we faced. I would never recommend Koi Ki to anyone looking for authentic, enjoyable Asian food or a pleasant dining experience. The service, ambiance, and overall management need serious improvement. Save yourself the disappointment and go elsewhere!!!!!

Very poor food, tiny portions and high prices (for what is being served). Main courses sent back twice.
