Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

The food was just okay, but not worth the money. Beautiful decor but very loud. The cocktails were good and the wine was excellent ($$$). The lobster bisque was very salty. The steak was not particularly flavorful.

Our server was great, pleasant and made sure our drinks were refilled but food was nothing special and honestly not very tasty. Niçoise salad was tasteless, onion soup was very salty and cheese was gloopy and too burnt on top, the burned cheese had an unpleasant odor. It’s a pretty place though.

Ambiance was like an upscale Mon Ami Gabi. The steaks were over cooked and dry. French Fries were over cooked. Beautiful surrounding is a one time visit if the good comes up short in tasting delicious.

A beautiful location but still some kinks to work out - especially with the quality of the meats, which were particularly fatty (and not in a good way), a bit of overcooking (medium was somewhere above medium-well), noticeably weak drinks, and very mechanical and impersonal service. It’s the first time in a long time when I’ve left a restaurant thinking that it’s “one and done” for me. If you’re thinking of going, wait a few months - they just didn’t seem ready for prime time, surprising given the effort put into creating such an inviting and beautifully restored space, as well as the price point.

Stunning location, very festive for the holiday season! We came for an early lunch at 11:30am on the Monday between Christmas and New Year's, and it wasn't crowded at all. The lunch menu is slightly cheaper than the brunch and dinner menu and the portions are HUGE. It's really great bang for your buck, which isn't a given in this city. And the quality was fantastic - easily up there with Le Dip - and the service was much friendlier. Our server was Christopher, who was really lovely and attentive, and altogether we had a really lovely time.

Had our anniversary dinner there and it was just beautiful. The food was 10/10 amazing, best steak I think I’ve had ever. And their profiteroles dessert was to die for. the only thing that would have made it better was the bathroom not being all the way downstairs and gender neutral. Kind of weird to me to have men in there. and the tables were so small and the chairs were uncomfortable. Think bistro table lol

Overall the food was absolutely spectacular. It was our 24th anniversary and we were greeted with a half glass of champagne each. All of the food was amazing except they did not have what we had ordered so we had to substitute a few things which was equally amazing. There was a 3% fee added on to the bill which was not disclosed from the beginning. For our anniversary we were told that they do not do a special anniversary dessert or anything like that. However our server did bring us ice cream. Very good experience.

Placed in the comments that we were celebrating our anniversary. Our anniversary was acknowledged upon check in but our extremely tiny table was right by the restrooms and the wait stand. The food and service was excellent and we would have stayed longer to enjoy more drinks and dessert to celebrate our anniversary had we had a such a horrible table location.
