About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Fancy
  • Romantic
Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

Our recent dining experience at La Grande Boucherie in Washington, DC was a mixed bag. The restaurant's opulent decor, particularly the iconic gold ceiling, created an impressive ambiance. We sampled a variety of dishes, including the Boucherie burger, Porc Diane, Saumon Rôti, duck cassoulet, French onion soup, escargot, Lobster bisque, and macaroni with smoked Gouda. The escargot were well-prepared and the onion soup was delicious. The bisque was fantastic. The salmon was served a bit cold, and the Porc Diane was somewhat dry, detracting from the overall experience. For dessert, we indulged in La Tarte au Citron, pistachio ice cream, crème brûlée, and vanilla ice cream. The desserts were generally satisfying, with the crème brûlée being a classic, well-executed choice. The service, once we were seated, was attentive and professional. However, our initial interaction with the hostess was less than smooth, which slightly marred the beginning of our evening. At just over $400 for five people, the price point felt steep considering the mixed quality of the dishes. While La Grande Boucherie offers an impressive setting and some enjoyable plates, the overall value for money left something to be desired.

spectacular restaurant! I highlight the service and vibe. Christian was our server and we couldn’t have had better. We ordered four appetizers and two mains for four. The onion soup and, steak fritters are a must.

Fantastic choice for an upscale night out in DC with a great vibe. The food selection is outstanding: highly recommend the scargots and the mussels as appetizers. Their filet mignon is a must and their drink selection pairs perfectly with the food. Service from our waiter Christian was great too, will come back!

From the moment we walked in the building itself is captivating. It was an old bank transformed! The ceiling is stunning! Our waitress Andrea was spectacular! As was the support staff working there. There is even a Sommelier on staff!!! The food was delicious! We ordered typical French cuisine and were not disappointed!! I would definitely recommend

Fantastic spot for a night out in DC! Everything from appetizers (duck prosciutto is excellent!) to the meats are delicious. Our waiter Christian took excellent care of us and suggested great wine pairings and desserts. Do not miss this spot!

Amazing experience at this place. Service was top notch, food was on point, came out fresh and in reasonable time. Term of the NY steak was perfect and the meat very tender. Wine is 50% off Sunday to Thursday and we had 2 bottles of great wine, recommended by our server Christian, who was attentive and treated us 5/5. We shared different desserts across our table and all were great, the profiteroles and cheesecakes were my favorites. You get what you pay for, the place is elegant and very well decorated, the live music was great.
