Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

Lovely holiday experience, decorations, holiday music were wonderful. Classic French cuisine, well done. As in classic French style, the wait staff was not overly friendly. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I enjoyed the true to French paletted menu. The drinks were delicious. I enjoyed the La Vie en Rose cocktail with petit basque cheese and jambon blanque maison as an hors d’oeuvre. For the main course, I selected the boeuf bourguignon. It was a little cold. But, once I saw/tasted my friend’s fettuccine bolognese (w/ veal), I decided to have the fettuccine. It was soooo good. And to finish, my friend got the creme brulee and I got the basque cheesecake with caramel and passion fruit

From the moment I stepped into La Grande Boucherie I felt welcomed. The ambiance of the restaurant is so enchanting from the decor to the professionalism of the staff. I arrived alone waiting for the rest of my party to join and still felt attended to and was sat. Our server, Christopher immediately greeting me with water and recommendations of the menu. Once my friend joined me my experience really took off. I was guided through the menu with the best cocktails and appetizers to start. We went with the bottomless bubbles . After the first mimosa you could tell the juice was fresh and the champagne crisp. We followed with a lobster bisque that you could tell upon the first spoonful it was full of marinated seafood stock flavor. The bread that they brought to the table with salted butter complimented it so well as if it was necessary considering the soup came with a fresh croissant . I’ll probably be dreaming of the soup tomorrow. We enjoyed the Wagyu Carpaccio which was well balanced with the rich marble of the wagyu and the saltiness of the capers on the plate. I was reaching a point of fullness and then my entree came out. I opted for a classic, Eggs Benedict, not being a huge fan of eggs I appreciate a well crafted Hollandaise, and that is exactly what I got. The English muffin tasted fresh and the Canadian bacon thinly sliced with the perfect balance of saltiness to pair with the best poarched egg. We finished our meal with a Lemon Sorbet unable to fully commit to a big dessert but even the simplicity of the 3 scoops absolutely exceeded my expectations. A perfect finisher to a meal I’ll probably be talking about for the next few weeks. I am so excited to continue to recommend this restaurant to my friends and traveling family. A truly picturesque experience where I don’t have to worry about the service or the food matching the high standards of what is seen online. They truly deliver.

The service was excellent and food was delicious. The food was somewhat pricey but you have to know that going in. Make a reservation because the restaurant is packed and for good reason.

Steven did an excellent job being our waiter. The restaurant was beautiful and the holiday decor was spectacular. Would definitely come back to this restaurant.

Beautiful restaurant, but the food was lack luster and the service was poor. Our server seemed absent minded and rarely checked in. For example our wine refill was wrong, and instead of apologizing made it seem like it was a change of heart we had. One guest at our table got the steak and a side of Brussel sprouts- but the steak already came with a side of them which could have been mentioned. I know the holidays and Saturdays get super busy, but for what is raved about an incredible experience felt like it was more for the pictures quite literally

I was excited to check out this restaurant in light of the buzz about their beautiful holiday decorations this time of year. While the restaurant was, in fact, decorated beautifully for Christmas, it was way too packed for an enjoyable dining experience. We awkwardly had to wait on the steps for our table, then were escorted up two flights of stairs and "over the river and through the woods" to our incredibly small table (about the size of an unfolded cloth napkin). Our waiter even told us he could just bring two dishes at a time due to the small size. While our party was just for 2, folks with 3+ or more were seated at generous size tables with more room. I'm inclined to think my table doesn't even exist during a non-busy season. My seat, as well as my husband's across from me, butted up against the people seated behind us. Our wait took forever to take our order, almost forgot to take our dining order after taking initial appetizer orders. The wine wasn't at proper cellar temperature so it was a good 45 minutes before we received our drink order. The food was mediocre at best, the highlights being our wine and oysters, both of which they are not responsible for "making." It was my husband's birthday and a quick scoop of ice cream and a small chocolate piece were haphazardly dropped off in "celebration." There is no bathroom where we were seated, but since the restaurant is so large, we just waited to use it on our way out. Very disappointing experience, we will NOT be back.

Overall good experience. The duck was expertly prepared. My wife's filet mignon had a little too much peppercorn but she generally enjoyed it. Our waiter was good and responsive. My complaints are the seating. We were seated in a back room and really could not enjoy the full ambiance of the place. It was my wife's 50th birthday and I stressed that in my reservation. I was not accommodating with a good table. That was disappointing to me and my wife. We were seated in a cramped space where we were literally sitting shoulder to shoulder with the table on our left and our right. It really killed the intimacy of the moment. The overall price was fair and the food was good. My wife raved about the fried oyster mushrooms. I will probably dine here again but I will insist on a better seating arrangement.

Aside from the pretty Christmas decorations, the entire experience was underwhelming. The service we received was extremely slow. My own dish was delivered and I had no silverware. It didn’t matter much though, my dish was cold. The Caesar salad tasted like it had been washed, but never dried. The only dressing was the leftover water. The steak frites were tough. The best part of the meal was the bread. Save your money.

Hello Tayler, We are truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. It’s concerning that your dish was cold and arrived without silverware, and we apologize for the slow service. We take all feedback seriously, and we understand how frustrating it must have been. The issues with the Caesar salad and steak frites are certainly not up to our standards, and we will review them with our team to ensure better quality moving forward. With the intention of creating a better experience for our guests, please contact us at guestrecovery@thegroup.nyc with your contact information and your review as a reference, and we will reach out to you. Thank you for your feedback, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back for a better experience. Sincerely, Emma Guest Relations Team
