La Nacional has been feeding Spaniards and Latin Americans in New York since the 19th century from its historical brownstone in the heart of what was Little Spain. Today, our volunteer-run non-profit has opened its doors to create a community restaurant and gathering place for everyone to enjoy. The Society sponsors the visas of Spain top young chefs - providing them with an apartment in our brownstone to draw inspiration from La Nacional’s past and establishing a culinary epicenter in New York City for Spanish food. Our goal is to offer diners innovative cuisine, reasonable prices and a neighborhood atmosphere for everyone.

The Restaurant at La Nacional is the catalyst for significant cultural and community programming that reflects the Society’s 158 year-old mission. This includes free or low-cost apartments upstairs for artists-in-residence and opening our event space on the parlor floor to community events, cultural pursuits and charitable causes.

In addition to our restaurant space, La Nacional offers a newly refurbished, fully-equipped large event space on the parlor floor of our historic brownstone. With our expansive catering service, full bar, and premier staff, we can accommodate a wide range of unique events. The room can hold over 100 people and is equipped with audiovisual technology, including a large screen and a new sound and lighting systems. We have hosted conferences, classes, cultural events, concerts, meetings, weddings, private parties, film screenings, and more. It was really an amazing experience. Food was so good, the choice of music in the background was perfect and the volume is very appropriate. The staff are all so welcoming and very courteous.

We had a great evening. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very inviting. The noise level was a bit loud for my liking, but La Nacional is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the city.

The calamari was underfried and the paella was bland. Drink service was slow. My clothes smelled like grease after being seated at communal table.

La Nacional is a wonderful place to be. It is warm and engaging, with excellent service and good food at reasonable prices. It’s unpretentious yet special, and perfect for conversation with a friend while sipping sangria or wine and nibbling on tapas. The little white anchovies and croquettes were very tasty indeed.

A corner of Spain where one can say,I'm having the best of Spain,tapas are always delicious, seafood paella the best with scallops, my party liked the sangria, cocktails and just good glass of tempranillo. The place was packed and seemed that all kinds of people enjoying this corner of Spain. The chef is from Valencia and he had his own restsurant back home so he knows what he's doing. Will be back over and over. Looking foward to warmer weather to enjoy more of the offerings in their menu. OLÉ!

Finally found an authentic Spanish restaurant in NYC. Felt like we were back in Madrid. Very reasonable prices and friendly staff. Best croquetas this side of the Atlantic. Definitely will return.

We have been to La Nacional several time and we are always so pleased by our experience there. The food is always delicious. The ambiance is lovely. We will continue coming to this gem of a restaurant!
