First time going. We’re from Monmouth County and drove about 50 minutes to try out this restaurant after hearing about it. Unfortunately, it will be our last time. Food was mediocre. There are much better quality restaurants closer to us, but that wasn’t the deciding factor. The service was awful! Believe all the other reviews! While there seemed to be plenty of servers, the don’t dedicate just ONE to your table. This meant several would stop by and ask the same thing a previous server asked, but it seemed like no one had a clue what was going on. We were seated and waited at least 30 minutes before having to ask for bread. We sat there with nothing until then. The table that was seated next to us that arrived long after we did, received their appetizers before us. It got so bad that we even had to get up and flag down the owner just to get our check at the end of the night. To top it off, the tables are pretty much on top of one another and the noise level was off the chart! Unimpressed is an understatement.

My second visit was nothing short of phenomenal, celebrating a birthday with my wife and family. The charming indoor atmosphere set the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. The staff made us feel incredibly special with their warm, attentive service, and the food—wow! Generous portions of authentic Northern Italian cuisine left us all completely satisfied. It’s a true gem, and I can’t wait to bring my favorite wine and experience it all over again.

This is the first time at this restaurant… it is deceiving on the website since it is one big banquet room very congested and very loud, the food was very good as well as the service… Too loud for my taste..

Small serving was not commensurate to high price of food. A special menu of two soft-shell crabs and a small mound of pasta does not merit a $54 price. Definitely overpriced. Beware of special menus where they rattle off the name of the dish and what they are but never tell you the price.

The restaurant itself is very nice, with a good ambiance. The service left a great deal to be desired, and the servers were very pushy to add items to increase the check. We were not told the price of the specials, which turned out to be ridiculously expensive, especially the Fruiti di Mare. The meal was fair at best. I have had better at La Pergola on previous occasions. The total check without tip came to $165+, and with no dessert. And this is a BYO restaurant !! I have eaten here on several occasions when going to Paper Mill afterwards. This visit was the most disappointing. There are other restaurants in Millburn with better food and a more reasonable price.

When walking in the door I thought it was a wedding decided ok food might be good. Well not. Prepared to in advance service cold If a foodie Donot go there

Appetizers and dinner were outstanding! Service was excellent. This is a bring your own bottle which is a plus. Highly recommend La Pergola!

A very comfortable restaurant, where we feel at home. The food is amazing, with careful attention to details. And, the prices are friendly too. As great an Italian meal as can be found in NJ.
