   Great food, great service. There's a reason why it's a Melbourne institution. The best gastro pub in town.

   Was extremely dissapointed overall when dining with friends and we all agreed we would not return, very sad as all off us had previously patronised this hotel/bistro for many many years for both lunches and private room special occasions. Some of the staff appeared inexperienced and dismissive. The food was very average and in particular the Spatchcock was not cooked properly and our feedback was entirely dismissed.

   The food was good but the service was poor. The waiters were more interested in chatting to each other and seated relatives than serving guests. When they did make it to the table they were abrupt and disinterested.

   Hi Shannon, Thanks for the feedback, and you are correct in what you are saying with the service last night and our sincere apologies. We in no way meant to be abrupt or appear disinterested. One of the staff members had her parents arrive from Italy and they hadn't seen them for over 12 months and i think we all lost our focus a little, myself included.    Decor a little outdated, (reminds me of dining out with my parents in the 80's), service not bad but food lovely. I would say reasonable prices - wines are $70+ Orecchiette a little on the salty side but Burata superb, Garden salad lovely and steak cooked to perfection

   Services of the floor staffs were very disappointing and the napkins had stink. The food was alright especially the calamari.

   Excellent food and service but we struck a night with a couple of noisy tables that made conversation difficult.

   Hi Jennifer, Thank you for your honest feedback. We understand that our busy nights can lead to a lively atmosphere, and while that energy is part of our charm, we appreciate that it may not be ideal for every dining experience. We do offer quieter alternatives—like the outdoor seating you mentioned, or the back of our bar/lounge area. Personally, my favourite spot is the banquette behind the bar opposite the fireplace. It offers a more intimate setting with the same great level of service. We hope you'll consider trying one of these options on your next visit for a more relaxed experience.
