The Late August name derives from the joyful time of year when the Sears catalog would arrive at your doorstep, bringing a deep desire and wonderment to all who would receive it and begin feverishly circling the items that would hopefully arrive for Christmas.

Our restaurant, set in the previous Historic Downtown Sears building, seeks to bring that same wonder to guests through its atmosphere, service, and cuisine. Echoing the mission of Lucille's Hospitality, which is committed to “Serving the Past, Feeding the Future,” Late August’s menu explores the culinary heritages of Chef Chris Williams and Chef Sergio Hidalgo by bringing the dishes and flavors from both their youths and the experiences to date creating a culturally culinary celebration.

We are thrilled to introduce a brand-new Saturday brunch series, inspired by the restaurant’s recent collaboration with Hola Houston and InStyle Magazine in Mexico City. Bringing the flavors of the Mexico City event, this brunch will offer a unique fusion of Mexican and African American culinary traditions that captivated influencers and media abroad. Now, Houstonians can enjoy this one-of-a-kind menu crafted by Chefs Chris Williams and Sergio Hildalgo. In partnership with Tequila Región de México, the brunch will feature two specially crafted cocktails: the Mexican Negroni, featuring their blanco tequila, and a Sazerac showcasing their reposado, adding a perfect pairing to the vibrant flavors of the brunch menu.

Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious!! The ambiance was wonderful, the service was impeccable, and the portion sizes were plentiful! We enjoyed every minute of our dinner - thank you!

It was such a great dining experience at Late August. The customer service was phenomenal. The manager was amazing. The waiter was amazing. The food was amazing. The drink was amazing. The restaurant itself is so cute and quaint, and I love the playlist. The music was excellent as well. I will be returning. We truly enjoyed ourselves.

Delicious food, didn’t have a bad dish. Excited to go back and see the expanded wine program, lvl 4(?) som on staff running it

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was fresh and delicious. The owner even came out to give us personal attention. The staff all gave impeccable service.

Wanted so much to love it. So so loud. Wait staff was very sweet but also very unknowledgeable. Food was hit and miss. Management attentive. Overall just so many other places to go I probably won’t return.

Chose this establishment to celebrate a good friend’s 55th Birthday. Everything was PERFECT!! Great venue for a party of eight ladies to fellowship and enjoy the company of one another while savoring in the flavors of the AfroMexican cuisine. Tariq was our server and he was nothing short of AMAZING!! 10/10

Every restaurant has an off night, and when mistakes happen, the best course of action is to make things right. Unfortunately, when none of the available solutions truly resolve the issue, it creates an uncomfortable experience for everyone involved. Our group of ten had a reservation, and while most of us enjoyed our meals, one unfortunate mix-up left a lasting impression. A member of our party was mistakenly served someone else’s order. By the time the error was noticed, the kitchen had "closed," leaving her without a meal altogether. While the front-of-house staff attempted to make amends by offering a bottle of wine, it was an imperfect gesture—especially since she was flying out the next day and couldn’t take it with her. It was an effort, but one that didn’t quite hit the mark. That being said, the food itself was very good. But service missteps like this, especially when no real solution is provided, leave a lingering disappointment. Hopefully, this was just an unfortunate anomaly rather than the norm.

Hello the vibe was nice but did take awhile for drinks and had to follow up for my second drink. Two of my friends ordered steak, one was medium rare the other medium but both came out rare so that wasn’t enjoyable for them. I enjoyed the Chile relleno but I wouldn’t go back. We asked the waitress for a photo and she made sure to clean the table to get a nice photo so that was very nice of her.
