LATHA, Swahili for flavor, celebrates Africa and the diaspora’s rich and diverse cuisines. The menu curated by Executive Chef Digby Stridiron honors the interconnected journey of the foodways and culture of Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, and the Southern United States. Our contemporary pan-African kitchen respects historical recipes and crafts cuisine from thoughtfully sourced seasonal ingredients that reveal the connections between Africa and the diaspora. It is a journey of discovery along the trails of our ancestors, telling the authentic stories of the foodways and how they have shaped eating habits and cuisine worldwide. We invite guests to join us on a flavorful journey of discovery and appreciation. LATHA, in downtown Phoenix, in Heritage Square, is a place to have a shared immersive experience with friends or family while enjoying food, drinks, music, and culture in our dining room, bar, or outside patio. From the OpenTable editors: LATHA means “flavor” in Swahili, and when this hotspot opened in 2023, it brought a taste of the African diaspora from across Brazil, the Caribbean, and the South that caught the attention of Phoenix magazine and The Infatuation. The menu ranges from fried chicken and banana rum waffles to oxtails barbacoa, best devoured on the deep porch of this historic house, where singers and musicians often perform.

Brunch at Latha is a special occasion in itself. Every employee treats you like royalty. The food is an experience & we have loved the flavor combinations of each dish. Start with the whipped goat cheese (with extra bread) & don't be embarrassed if you need to order another or get caught licking the bowl. We enjoyed trying the watermelon salad, chicken & waffles, grilled cheese sandwich, the shrimp Aguachile & the Dayboat shrimp & grits. We've also sampled the passion fruit torte & the Southern pound cake (my favorite). Their version of an espresso martini is delicious, but I suggest being a bit more adventurous with the Pineapple Caipirinha.

Just enjoyed a date night at Latha with my husband and had a wonderful experience! The staff was attentive, the food was incredibly delicious, and the live music really added to our dining experience! I highly recommend treating yourself to their dining “journey” where you get to pick an appetizer, entree, and dessert for one price.

It was a great experience, excellent food & service, and the nicest birthday surprise! The only negative was the two competing outdoor music scènes. Both good music, but together at the same time not so much. But would go back anyway 😉

The place was busy, great vibe, ate dinner in the bar with a friend. The staff was attentive and the food was delish. Loved the watermelon salad, the whipped feta dish and the burger was delicious. Love this place!

We had a wonderful first experience at Latha. From start to finish, the hospitality, the flavor, and the ambiance were on point. We had the watermelon salad, goat cheese and honey with chapati, Maqueca Shrimp, Awaze Chicken, and pound cake. I would highly recommend trying it all! The icing on top of the cake was the live jazz music by Kapsol. It truly rounded out the whole experience. This restaurant is one-of-a-kind, and we're lucky to have Latha in Downtown Phoenix.

I’ve been here several times, but the food and service last night were horrible. 90 minutes after reservation time before we got our first course. Then wine pairing was a complete disaster. Got our 3rd wine with the 4th course. Completely skipped wine for the second and 3rd course. Waitress didnt seem to care about the misunderstanding and just removed the wine paring charge and added per glass for the wine. Quality of the food took the downhill and its disappointing because I loved it there the last two times i was there.
