Lovely brunch with friends. None of us had visited before, and all agreed we would return.

Relaxing well prepared breakfast to conclude an excellent overnight hotel stay, but restaurant open to all. Sophie, Laurel restaurant manager, graciously upgraded birthday experience with delicious mimosa. Latte was so tasty, ordered a second one to go and never needed to try hotel lobby coffee. Cold pressed Wake Me Up juice with carrot, orange, ginger, and lime was a winner for us and was seen on other diner tables. Would return for the perfectly cooked flat iron steak with Italian gremolata seasoning/ eggs to order/ potatoes platter. Although acceptable, the barbacoa tacos which tasted more like brisket vs. barbacoa in South Texas would have us try something else in this Italian inspired restaurant. Look forward to returning when next in Austin. (App not allowing photo upload but will try again another time.)

First time visit to help friend celebrate a birthday with happy hour bubbly and charcuterie board in the Laurel indoor lounge adjacent to main dining room. Well done with Italian cheeses and meats, olives, marcona almonds, fig preserves and crackers, and crudite. Take 4 or more people with you or plan to take some back to hotel room or home. Stayed for dinner in well lit main dining room of Laurel. Simo, waiter, was a very attentive but in the background server, reminding me of fine server experiences in Dallas at the Mansion restaurant there. On hearing of a celebration, Simo surprised us by bringing roses in a vase for the table. We noticed he also brought out a floral arrangement for another dining party celebrating something that evening. Memorable nice touch! Shrimp in pasta dish were large and tasty. Brussels sprouts were delightfully crisp with sweet finish. Unexpected star of the evening was the light pistachio sponge cake with berries in decorated plate. Enjoyable evening. Couldn’t wait to try breakfast the next morning. (Will later try to upload photos but having trouble with app. 🤞)

Service was a catastrophe. They gave us the wrong menu, forgot part of our order and took too long to bring out our food.

Poor value. One of the most mediocre tasting menus I’ve ever experienced. Courses were dropped off the table with no explanation of the dish, its preparation, or contents, main course was not cooked to temperature requested, wine pairing was not explained, lighting was atrociously bright for a dinner setting. I made this selection from the “experience” section of dining options - I certainly received an “experience”, but I should have performed extra diligence prior to qualify if it was a “good” or “bad” experience. This definitely fell into the latter category. Don’t waste your time or money.

If you are staying at the hotel, definitely eat at Laurel. The outside setting is beautiful the cocktails are delicious and we really enjoyed the charcuterie board. We also had octopus that was really good, salmon, shrimp scampi, and the duck. I thought everything was a little too expensive but that’s just me. A $25 glass of wine that was yummy but was still $25.

Beautiful atmosphere, good food. We were staying at the hotel and celebrated our anniversary dinner here. My husband got the octopus and said it was good and the brussel sprouts were great. For dinner I got the veggie pasta and he had the seafood one. The pistachio dessert was interesting but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend. Good drinks as well.

Service was amazing. Went early on a Saturday. Was nice and quiet. Clean. Amazing atmosphere. Very overpriced for the food. $70 for two breakfast meals (that weren’t even the most expensive on the menu), one pastry, one coffee and orange juice. Perhaps offer something like a complimentary biscuit w jams. The “freshly baked” croissant was underbaked. The pizza was to be desired. The hash was very oily.
