I was excited to go to this restaurant, but I'm afraid I was disappointed. We weren't offered a second drink, my steak was underdone, but still edible, and the frites were terrible. They were cold and old. It's a nice restaurant with a lot of history. We were visiting from another country so, sadly, we won't get to try it again. The entire two floors were packed, so it must've just been bad luck at our table.

I had never had oxtail before and did not know it had so much gristle. I believe the serving I received was more gristle than meat. My creme brûlée was good, but similar to what I’ve had at home in Santa Fe, NM. I was dining alone; a 54 year old woman’s first time in Paris. I love history and made my dinner reservation 4 months ago. I did my research! This place has such a wonderful story, that I recommended it today to a couple next to me at the museum. But the oxtail and 3 small fingerling potatoes did not impress me, and I did give them full disclosure. The ambience and history were enough to get me there. But it would have helped if someone threw a carrot in the pot.

I was drawn to the Precope because of the fascinating history and from what I had seen on YouTube. I knew that reviews of the food were at best mediocre, however I thought mediocre food in Paris would still be good. I ordered Coq a Vin. It was so so bad, the chicken was so overcooked it was like leather and the sauce was also old tasting. My daughter had the Vol a Vent and she could not eat it. It was bad. The onion soup was fair. I was so very disappointed as this was a special occasion and spending $100.00 on a meal is not often in my budget. I left feeling very disappointing. The bathroom was dirty. You need new kitchen management as well as someone with pride to care for this iconic restaurant. I would be ashamed to serve food this bad anywhere especially in Paris. .

The food was quite good, and the place, which calls itself the oldest bistro in Paris, is charming. However, they could not find our reservation at first, and though I had specified it was a special birthday, no acknowledgment of that was made. The service was slow and haphazard. One of the waiters seemed out of sorts. It was altogether a disappointing experience, and though we visit Paris often, we will not return here.

Everything was really great. Food was fantastic, had a reservation so no wait. Only negative was it took an hour for our food to come out. The kitchen may have been really busy. Waiters were friendly. Great experience.

I can only comment on their service as we eventually left without ordering, but their customer service leaves A LOT to be desired, especially for an establishment as storied as Le Procope. When we first arrived, the maitre d’ was very dismissive and refused to acknowledge our OpenTable reservation, demanding to see proof that we actually had a reservation. After showing him an email confirming said reservation, the maitre d’ still refused to acknowledge it and stated he would add us to their “walk-in” list but wouldn’t guarantee a table (although they had just opened another dining room with numerous empty tables). After 10-15 minutes, one of the servers finally came to retrieve us, stating they had set up a table in their “terrace”, which was actually a back alley. The final straw was that the place settings appeared used/dirty. We left soon after.
