   We do not remember the portion sizes being so large. Also great to have the $1 and $2 cup and bowls of clam chowder as an add-on. The clam chowder is the best in the city. Only little point about improvement is to speed up delivery of drinks order. Several times when we have dined there, the drinks would arrive well after we received our first courses and/or our entrees. Otherwise, this resto is a great addition to River North.

   Salad came out with the rest of the meal. My order was wrong - the topping I ordered was never added. Check was delivered before asking about dessert. Felt the meal was overpriced for the quality

   My family celebrated my uncle 61st birthday and it was amazing. The food was great, the service was immaculate, and the atmosphere was perfect.

   The servers were friendly and efficient. The ambiance is nice, especially if you can sit overlooking the river. The food was a disappointment. I've eaten at Legal Sea Foods many times in New England and the food here did not compare favorably to the East Coast version. Steak tips were excellent but cod and whitefish were not good at all. Crab cakes were fine and the chowder wasn't hot.

   We were 3 ladies celebrating a birthday on a Saturday at noon. The place was almost empty. We had 2 Bloody Mary’s and a white sangria, three lunch specials, and a piece of key lime pie to share.Everything was delicious. The lunch special of soup, sandwich, fries, and coleslaw was generous - great fries and excellent lobster or crab rolls. They comped a birthday dessert which we shared. Service was good, but got one lunch special wrong (quickly replaced) and there was a long wait for the coffee. One unexpected pleasure was the activity on the river on a cold winter day - floating hot tub, several sightseeing boats, and geese went by. The only two negatives were that they don’t have any type of parking and it’s difficult to find. We had to walk around Marina City passing two closed entrances and finally found it. The sign is very small. Otherwise, we liked it very much.

   Waited 45 minutes after ordering for food to get to table. Shrimp was overcooked, tough. Sea Bass was undercooked. Mushrooms were dry. Staff was cordial, what rarely stopped at our table, not even to ask if we wanted additional beverages.

   The grilled shrimp was good and obviously fresh, nice and crisp with the right amount of firmness. The roasted mushrooms were delicious. My dining partner thought the crab cakes were good but nothing spectacular. Additionally, the salad was not refreshing or particularly tasty. The service was very good! Braden was a wonderful server with a great personality and just plain nice.

    It’s Legal,’s first venture in the Midwest, and Sunday isn’t a busy lunch time in downtown Chicago, so I’m cutting a generous amount of slack. Our server seemed distracted, and had to serve a table of 6 single-handedly. So, everyone was served as fast as he could accommodate, which made things awkward; some people’s clam chowder was growing cold while others waited for salads. We’ll give it another spin, perhaps. Sadly, no rival to Shaw’s for quality, service and timeliness.
