The food was outstanding but the service was painfully slow. It was a 3 hour meal.

Had the veal chop. It was excellent. I've been looking looking for something that could compare to Zefirelli's in Herndon, VA. This could be it. We also had the halibut which was also very good. Better than the old NLI.

The server was phenomenal. The restaurant is beautiful. The appetizer we ordered was the large ravioli. There were pieces of frozen mushroom in the dish. I did not mention this to the server because she was so sweet to us. I would expect a restaurant of that caliber to make all items fresh. This appetizer had been previously frozen. The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection but the potatoe sides need some work.

Servers need to be better versed in understanding new menu. Unique caesar salad not necessarily the best. Venison and scallops great!
Lionne - The Nittany Lion InnResponded on January 29, 2025
Thank you for your feedback! It’s great to hear you enjoyed the venison and scallops – those are definitely highlights. As you mentioned it is a completely new menu so as we continue to work with it and take menu test servers will improve. I’ll be sure to pass along your thoughts about the Caesar salad, as some are not aware it is a traditional euro Caesar dressing. We’re always striving to give our guests a better experience and very much appreciate the feedback!

Nice environment, below average food with little to no taste. Extremely overpriced.

So happy to see the very long overdue updates at the Nittany Lion Inn. It’s beautiful, both at the 1855 bar and Lionne. The drinks were great and the food was awesome, too. The pace of dining was too fast. It seemed rushed when it should be more of a dining experience. Hopefully the staff will work that out. It’s unfortunate that as guests of the bar and restaurant you are required to pay for parking, hopefully they will work that out too.
Lionne - The Nittany Lion InnResponded on January 23, 2025
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the updates at the Nittany Lion Inn, as well as the drinks and food. We appreciate your feedback on the dining pace and parking – those are definitely things we’re looking into to improve the overall guest experience. We hope to have the chance to welcome you back soon and provide an even more relaxed, enjoyable experience!

Newer restaurant. Atmosphere was nice. Table sat at was too small for number of people. Pacing of meal and service was rushed.
Lionne - The Nittany Lion InnResponded on January 23, 2025
Thank you for your feedback! We’re so glad you loved the food, and we truly appreciate your comments about the service. We’re sorry to hear the pacing felt rushed and that the booth size didn’t quite work for your group. We’re definitely looking into ways to improve the overall dining experience, including service timing and seating arrangements. We’d love to have you back to offer a more relaxed and enjoyable meal next time!

Overall, the food was very good. We ate during the 4,5, or 6 course meal on New Year’s Eve. Definitely one of the better food establishments in Centre County. I will say I did expect a better service for fine dining. It wasn’t bad by any means and better than most places in the area, but comparing to other fine dining we’ve been to, the service was lacking. Little things like taking awhile to clear plates or asking if we want pepper on salads when we had one bite of salad left. Again, all minor. I’m just noting that for the price of fine dining, we’re paying for a certain level of service in addition the food. If this were billed as a standard local restaurant, the service would be at the top of that group.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. It’s great to hear that you enjoyed the food, especially with the special 4, 5, or 6 course New Year’s Eve meal. I agree that Centre County is lucky to have such a quality food establishment. I understand your points about service—it’s the small details that can make a big difference in fine dining. While it sounds like the service was generally good, I agree that for the price, expectations for attentive service are higher. Your feedback is helpful, and I’m sure the team will take it to heart as they continue to refine their experience. Thanks again for your insight!
