   Bartender helped my wife understand difference between bourbon and rye. Waiter did a nice job

   This was not our best experience at the Brown Hotel. We had to ask for plates for our bread, spoons for our soup, and a knife for my steak. The soup tasted great but we both found many hard pieces of bay leaves in it. When my filet arrived it was barely warm, beyond the medium rare I requested, and over salted. I had requested a Merlot to go with my steak but it never arrived, even after reminding a server that we had ordered it. They did discount our tab because we were “celebrating an anniversary” (not because of the poor service and food issues), but I seriously doubt we will ever go back.

   It is a tradition for the 6 of us to come at Christmas time!! We love everything about the Brown. We will see you next year for sure!!

   High level of noise and activity in bar area where seated. Unfortunately the service was less timely due to crowded bar the number of people celebrating holidays and Louisville Orchestra at Palace. Entrees were tasty but food was barely warm when served. Difficult to get servers attention.

   Great experience during the Christmas season. The Hot Brown was amazing and the brussel sprouts were the best I’ve ever had. And what an incredible and historic hotel. Loved just sitting and enjoying this space. PS - I love to people watch and have to acknowledge the adorable grandma, daughter, and granddaughter all in matching red pea coats enjoying what looked like a special evening together.

   The service was terrible. The waiter, Matthew, was very pleasant but due to overload or something was very slow. It took and hour to get iced tea and bread. Had to ask for and then another wait for refills. Water glass was never refilled. One meat entree was overcooked and tough and flavorless. The other was undercooked. The value of the meals were totally over priced, even allowing for inflation. We spoke with manager who was apologetic and blamed a grill issue HAH. We were celebrating our anniversary and were offered a complimentary dessert which we waited for 30 minutes for and left before it arrived. We were there almost two hours for a meal that should have taken an hour at the most. We have celebrated at the Brown before but not likely to return. A total waste of time and money.

   The food is outstanding and The Brown is one of my favorite places. We went there to see the decorations that used to be over the top and was a little disappointed when it was basically just a Christmas tree. But the thing that will make me not return This winter is that they did not have the heat on, I had to ask them to turn the heat on and the place was like a refrigerator. They were really nice about turning the heat on and I said why at the level of a hotel that The Brown is would you not turn your heat on in 20° weather. Anyway. Nobody does food better and the architecture is great but nit very Xmasy this year and too cold.

   Unfortunately, we had a maintenance issue last night associated with our boiler that left us without heat. We have since resolved the issue and brought heat back on for the building. I apologize for the timing and the inconvenience to you on your night out to dine with us. Part of the charm of the hotel is that vaulted lobby space with all the marble and original windows. The downside to that lovely space, is that it can be hard to trap the heat in, especially when we have a maintenance issue. The Brown Hotel is dedicated to making a stay here special for all our guests, we are continuously investing in equipment and services to guarantee the quality of the experience you receive here.     One of the best meals my wife and I have had. Beautiful classic hotel lobby bar and restaurant with lovely piano music that was in no way intrusive. We could easily have a relaxed quiet conversation (rare in restaurants today.) Wonderful food and wine and the chef came out to greet and speak with everyone. Highly recommended.
