A collaboration with renowned Melbourne chefs Shannon Martinez (Smith & Daughters, Smith & Daughters Deli) and Ian Curley (French Saloon, Kirk’s Wine Bar), Lona Misa is a rebellious renaissance from root to stem, sustainably crafted to be seasonal, full of flavour, and memorable. The result? "A deliciously lively eatery that provides the ideal setting for coming together and taking part in the simple act of enjoying good food that is kind to the planet" (TimeOut).

Awarded One Hat by the prestigious Good Food Guide 2023, Lona Misa’s Latin fare and bistro dining collide against the norms of the classical medley you know of vegan and vegetarian dining. Think of dishes like Brazilian steafood stew Moqueca, roasted padron & manchego croquetas, or pastor mushrooms grilled over charcoals on Josper with corn puree, fermented pineapple & chilli.

    As part of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, two plant-based icons unite for “SoCal to South Yarra.” Los Angeles’ Gracias Madre and Melbourne’s Lona Misa come together to celebrate Latin flavours with a focus on sustainability and seasonality. Gracias Madre, led by Executive Chef Diana Briscoe, pioneers plant-based Mexican cuisine, while Lona Misa, helmed by Shannon Martinez and Executive Chef Pamella Tomio, redefines Latin-inspired vegan fare. This collaboration offers a curated menu, blending both restaurants' flavours, starting with a cocktail on arrival. “SoCal to South Yarra” runs at Lona Misa from Friday, 21 March to Sunday, 30 March.

    First visit for us on Saturday night 23rd November. Staff were absolutely delightful. We left a tip! Food was amazing too and the vibe was perfectly. Well done Lona Misa!

    We recently celebrated an early family Christmas at Lona Misa, choosing the seasonal tasting menu. The food was a vegan delight beautifully presented and offering lots of new flavours and combinations. The service was excellent and the surroundings vibrant but comfortable. Highly recommended.

    The atmosphere is warm and inviting, reminiscent of a cozy family gathering. The standout dish was the Parrillada, it had a perfect blend of flavors that left a lasting impression. The seasonal kombucha was a delightful complement, offering a refreshing contrast. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience. Unique to this restaurant is their emphasis on seasonal ingredients, which really shines through in each dish. The drink selection was varied and reasonably priced, making it easy to find the perfect pairing. I would definitely return to explore more of the menu. We've dined here several times and will undoubtedly return for more. It never ceases to delight us!

    I didn’t fly all the way from London just to eat here… But once I was here, I had to go. Truly delicious and beautiful food (the ‘calamari’ Thank you, thank you were a revelation) and so exciting to see how gourmet vegan cooking can be.

    As a vegetarian, it was great to be able to actually choose the dish I wanted and not have to settle for the only vegetarian option on the menu. Some of the guests weren’t vegetarian, and they equally enjoyed the dishes, surprised by the flavors and textures. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, vegetarian or not – a great experience with delicious food.

    We had fun ! Food was fab but hard to decipher at times. This was a problem as some of us did not want to eat blind BUT staff very helpful. Main problem was the noise level . Would recommend to anyone wanting a truly different eating experience in a unique setting
