lou is part all day cafe, part bar a vin; set in a humorous juxtaposition between old world European style & contemporary California fare. Located in a historic 1930's craftsman house located in Riverside Village in East Nashville with a large botanical, covered outdoor patio (COMING SOON!).

lou’s menu is best described as abundant, feminine, bright and very visually stimulating. Chef/Owner, Mailea Weger, specializes in CalifornianCuisine offering a vegetable forward approach and a focused selection of proteins. The menu will be largely driven by local and sustainable ingredients, with an attention to seasonality and an emphasis on the regional bounty. Chef/ Owner, Mailea Weger has trained in some of the best kitchens in New Orleans, New York, Los Angeles and Paris. She was the opening Sous Chef at the cult favorite Gjusta in Venice Beach and moved to Paris to open Echo in 2017 with feverish success.

We tried Lou for the first time for my birthday this past Saturday. I was surprised at how small the place is but that partly explains why reservations book up so quickly. The waitress was trying to make recommendations but it was literally so loud that only the person next to her could hear and we just had a table of 4. The food was good but nothing out of this world. The drink situation is what we found most puzzling. What brunch spot doesn't have Bloody Mary's? Really? One of our guest asked for a screwdriver but was told they would have to serve her in two different glasses - one glass with the vodka and one glass with the orange juice. Strange.

A truly unique dining experience. Very creative offerings. We shared a veggie dish with a roasted squash, a crispy saffron rice, a very tastily prepared red shrimp. We complemented our selections with a very nice Spanish red blend wine. The wine list is small but with great choices to fit the menu. The venue is a quaint, attractive, restored house which previously housed another local restaurant.

Remarkably good food in a warm, intimate and non-traditional setting. Lou is unlike anything else in Nashville and that’s wonderful.

Cute spot with Avery interesting menu and trendy vibe. Lots of young folks! The egg dish with mushrooms that I had was delicious, however the crispy potatoes with eggs that my son had was barely edible as the crispy potatoes were burned to a crisp and not tasty at all! The hazelnut breakfast bread was awesome, they were all out of the other sweets on the menu including the doughnuts. It’s pricy- the bill was around $120 for four of us with no alcohol.

The food was absolutely perfect, the ambiance is so pleasant and our waiter was so pleasant. The food took a while but we will absolutely be back very very soon!!!

Portions felt a little smaller than they should, however, everything was delicious. While the service was great, the food took too long to come out. I don't mind waiting on a coursed menu, however, the charcuterie board should have been out maybe 10 minutes earlier than it was.
