   While the food was absolutely beautiful and our waiter was incredibly friendly, our experience was overshadowed by the behaviour of the host who seated us. Despite informing the restaurant in advance that we would be bringing a pram, the host was rude and unaccommodating. She made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in the restaurant with our baby.

   We asked to sit outside as it was a special get together of 5 people. The staff said they can’t sit more than 4 and only 2 tables were going to be sat outside. There was no one there only us. We were then sat inside the second building but left on our own. We even had to find someone to pay our bill. Service wasn’t very good (and it’s normally fabulous here) when we left tables of 6 were sat outside and together. Our small tip (rather than a large one as planned) sadly reflected this.

   Absolutely outstanding service and food quality. We had a beautiful meal out! With incredible food and great service!

   It was a special occasion for our friends. Food was very good. We had booked at 5, it was after that when we sat down. It was very busy inside, we all had starters main and wine, to be told by the manager that we couldn’t have desserts and coffee’s . We couldn’t because our time was up. I looked round and there way plenty of free tables but no queue outside. So didn’t understand why we couldn’t have had desserts, so we were not impressed. It spoilt our night. I don’t think we will be going back.

   I’ve been to lucias a lot over the years. This one was the best experience ever !! The food has never disappointed but this time it was exceptional !!! The staff have always been superb I love the outside dining Cosy blankets & lots of heaters

   On arrival we were told our table was “not ready yet” so we waited over 30 minutes in the bar area and had to ask again if it was ready, no one came to update us or apologise for the wait, we felt forgotten. We were shown to a small table only suitable for drinks and told that the restaurant was fully booked and there was nothing they could do about moving us, we had 4 glasses and a water jug which filled the table never mind having enough space for a full meal. We were told to put the glasses on a window ledge to make room for the meals. I was very disappointed in the staff and complained to a number of people. The manager did reduce the bill in the end. I was very disappointed with the staff and service as my intention was to have a 3 course meal but we felt very rushed for time as we had a train to catch. I understand it was busy but I did not get the table I had booked.

   Very disappointed in the overall experience. We arrived and had to wait for our table which wasn't an issue as we could see how busy the restaurant was. It took over 15 mins for our first drink order to be taken. We paid £45 for bottomless brunch.. in the 90 mins we were there we had 4 drinks. That's it. We only had a party of 4 so this for bottomless brunch is extremely poor. The food was nice however we would like to make that point. We will not be attending bottomless brunch at this venue again as such a slow poor service for one of the highest priced in york.

   So disappointed. We booked weeks ago for our daughter’s birthday and yet when we arrived there was no table ready for us. It was clear that it was overbooked. Eventually we were shown to the bar so ended up ordering an expensive round of drinks. We were then shown to our table and credit should be given for staff noting it was for a birthday and that we had a gluten intolerant in our party. However it was then some time before our wine order was taken and then our mains a while after that so although our table was booked for 8.30 we were still waiting for food at 9.45! When we complained the cost of a bottle of wine was taken off our bill. Unfortunately the first choice for the gluten intolerant wasn’t available so she hurriedly chose something else which when delivered was clearly not gluten free! Again, profuse apologies but just added to the disappointment. It was sent back and the right meal brought but the sweet potato was undercooked and hard. A nice touch to bring our daughter a dessert with a candle in it but all in all I wouldn’t go back. It’s a beautiful restaurant and the staff were sweet and friendly but clearly overworked. The food was underwhelming and the wine not good value - £40 for a very average red.

    We had a wonderful time at Lucia's, lovely warm atmosphere and surroundings, great service, exceptional food and very good value. Perfect evening.
