   It was a cute spot. We arrived and booked a table outside. We were told they need to move us inside which was fine. We sat around 11:10am and then was chased out by staff at 12:45pm saying our time limit was up while we finished our last glass of mimosas. It was very aggressive and made us uncomfortable. It made the experience go out the window especially how aggressive they were telling us to get up now.

   We came here for brunch, making reservations for four, and thankful we did. This is a very popular place, as it should be, with the atmospheric vibes it gives. In addition to some brunch cocktails, our table shared the fried green tomatoes, which were perfect with just the right flavorings and seasonings. Our main courses composed of either the fried catfish or the chicken fried steak. My very dear friend, who is almost 89, enjoyed the fried catfish, indicating it as one of the best fried catfish she has had. She has not been eating a lot, and the generous portion she was served surprisingly was almost finished when she was done eating. She ate 4/5 of this meal, and it brought me so much joy seeing her eat and enjoy it. The chicken fried steak is breaded perfectly, almost giving a “light” residual taste, compared to how heavy a chicken fried steak can make one feel. I wanted to give this place 5/5; however, I did notice some room for improvement. The main thing was our seating, and although I looked online at photos, did not realize the reservations I made would land us to the second floor. Sadly, when we were guided up the stairs, and my friend almost fell, we were told all the other tables below were “reserved” (as we had also made reservations). My friend has ongoing radiculopathy and sciatica she has endured for a few weeks now, and this was a challenge for her, and could have been a liability should she had fallen after sharing this concern with the hostess seating us. Although we also made reservations, I should have been aware, and encourage those with ambulation difficulties to reserve tables on the first floor, as they do not accommodate for ADA restrictions. My other recommendation for other patrons is to ask for additional gravy with your chicken fried steak, as it is delicious and creamy, yet not nearly as generously served as other restaurants we frequent. Lastly, the hash under the chicken fried steak was room temperature to questionably cool.

   It has been a while since we ate at Lucille's. Enjoyed it the time before. Ordered the catfish/grits. Fish was fried hard with little seasoning. Salad was good. Fried green tomatoes were decent. Overheard a couple seated next to our table complain about their food as well. Waiter never came back after food was brought out to inquire if we needed anything.

   I made reservations 1 month in advance and there was no wait upon our arrival. We were seated and our waitress was immediately there to help without being intrusive. She was also helpful with questions with the menu (for substitutions) even though the menu is easy to understand. During the meal, my girlfriend was not satisfied with the sprite she was given and it immediately replaced with a different type of drink no questions asked. Food portions were good, I had the "Yard Bird" plate and I of course wanted more than what comes on the plate only because it was so good. The mashed potatoes and greens were good as well. My girlfriend ordered the "Oxtails" and was full after eating one and some of the rice, greens, and dinner rolls we ordered. Those dinner rolls were good as well. We finally ordered dessert being Bread Pudding which was pretty good as well.

   We were visiting from out of town and so glad we chose Lucille's for brunch. We were greeted upon arrival and when she found out it was our first time there she said to be sure and tell her how we liked it before we leave (which we of course did!). Our server was wonderful! Very attentive and gave us recommendations from the menu. We started with the biscuits and they were AMAZING! I had the chicken and waffles, which was full of so many wonderful flavors that all blended good together. My husband had the oxtail omelette and it was amazing too. We will definitely be going back when we are in Houston again. We will try dinner next time. I have no doubt it will be just as good!

   Food was fantastic, but the valet parking was horrible because I had just had my vehicle wash and they drove it in mud and water

   Lucille's is always great; service and ambience are terrific. Food outstanding of course. Lucille's is our go-to place for all special occasions. Today's occasion Carol and my 48th wedding anniversary. Lucille's made it special. Yardbird, Caesar salad with fried chicken, shrimp and grits and bread pudding were outstanding. We will return soon.

   The food was good. The cocktails better. Our location in the restaurant was loud. We could not converse well where we were located. Ask for Shelby. He was awesome.

    The fried green tomatoes were the best. Unfortunately. The shrimp and grits were terrible. The shrimp were not blackened and the sausage was boiled and the dish lacked seasoning. The collard greens were tasteless. I was so surprised. What has happened to Lucille’s? I will not be back for brunch.
