Nestled in a 1920s mission-style home in the heart of Houston’s Museum District, Lucille's specializes in well-refined Southern cuisine with infusions of international techniques and flavors. The restaurant serves as a tribute to the culinary tradition began by Executive Chef & Owner Chris Williams’ great-grandmother, Lucille B. Smith, who was a culinary pioneer and successful entrepreneur who founded her own food corporation. Today, the Lucille’s team continues to pay homage to their namesake by replicating some of her most famous recipes while embellishing others to create innovative takes on Southern food classics.

                                                                                                        Restaurant was way too cold, and they’re like “it’ll warm up once it’s crowded”; it wasn’t crowded. Service was mechanical, un-warm and rushed; food came out faster than fast food, which was fine though the overall experience prevented real enjoyment. And this isn’t the first time….

                                                                                                        Met a good friend I had not seen in at least a year for lunch and she really wanted to try this restaurant. We were reminded by our hostess when we were seated that we have only 90 minutes at the table before we will be asked to leave. I understand that this restaurant has limited seating and some guests may take advantage of their right to stay but this policy is off putting and frankly offensive. Honestly, it put a damper on our experience. On the food- Lucille’s food is prepared well with lots of flavor. I ordered the catfish and grits which did not disappoint. We had an off the menu appetizer which was fried green tomatoes with shrimp - also very good. My friend had the chicken with waffles which she enjoyed. We also ordered mimosas. Our bill before the tip was $142. Seems like we should not have had a timer going on our lunch. Because of that policy we likely are in no hurry to come back.

                                                                                                        This was our first visit to Lucille’s. Our waiter, Rick is amazing at servicing and hosting others. He shared the menu and directed us to things to try that didn’t disappoint. He treated us with so much grace and kindness. We enjoyed the time he took to get to know us and was so attentive to what our needs were while having dinner. When you visit you must ask for him to be your waiter. You will not regret it. We at the oxtail for the first time it was outstanding. Rick gave us the opportunity to try the bread pudding. Don’t leave without trying it. It was superb. The bread rolls were so good and the fried green tomatoes were excellent. We will visit again on our next visit to Houston. The atmosphere was quiet. The hostess was so sweet and welcoming. Thank you for a great experience.
