Located at 157 E. Houston Street, Macondo East brings you street food Latin Tapas. Macondo is young, fresh and hip. Named after the fictional village in Gabriel García Márquez “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, our Tapería Latina is a magical oasis bursting with downtown energy.
Our menu pioneers the Estilo Libre Latino (Freestyle Latino) cuisine, signature dishes created with the free spirit of being influenced by flavors and traditions from all over the Spanish-speaking world and yet still respecting its traditional base. We serve arepas from Venezuela, cocas from Barcelona, tacos from Mexico, ceviches from Peru, and churros con chocolate from Madrid. You may find "Macondo locals" enjoying a "porron", a fun way of drinking wine poured out of a traditional glass wine pitcher with a spout, raised high above the mouth.

Amazing service every time! I have been coming here for close to 4 years for brunches, birthdays and more. Their brunch deal ($15 for 1.5 hours of mimosas) cannot be beat. Food is outstanding as well - we especially loved the cuban sandwich, the empanadas, arepas, and deli fries.

Over all I like this place. I am rating the service neutral because they called to confirm the reservation the day before at 11.30pm!! Additionally, they first tried to seat us at the end of a high table that already had 4 people sitting there because apparently the hald empty restaurant was booked. However, we were able to sit at the bar on the outside, so it was not to loud with the music and people on the inside. The bar service was a bit slow but ok, nothing extraordinary . What is super is their brunch special food is yummi and mimosas are unlimited for $15. The bad thing is it's only 1.5 hour and they are very strickt about it, wgich sucks, it used to be 2 hours, but they stop serving on the dot, they even mentionen that when confirming the reservation. Management should reconsider this, it comes off as ridgid. But I like the place, lovster grill cheese was delish!

Had the fish bowls (poke bowl) which was incredible. Great fish, great ambiance, great prices.

The Staff at Macando East are super accommodating and extremely nice. We had an excellent time!

Brunch was delicious and the overall atmosphere is fun and lively. However, servers were impatient, and rushed guests through the brunch. Additionally, there was no indication of a "$12 minimum" for food orders (which was only conditional to those ordering bottomless brunch). Moreover, our server gave us lipstick stained drinking glasses, and did not apologise when we - politely -requested for a cleaner glass. She was rude and hasty with the food service, and approached us 3-4 times to leave the table for the next party, (who had not arrived until much later). I would not anticipate "prepping the next party's table" would take a considerable amount of time, as the table only seated a party of 4 and simply needed to be wiped down. All in all, tasty brunch options, bright and aesthetically pleasing decor and fun vibe, but service could be better and pricing conditions for brunch could be more explicitly stated on the menu or explained to guests via phone when making the booking ahead of time.

My friend and I went to Macando East around 4PM on a Saturday. They allowed us to sit and have drinks and small tapas. According to their website and business hours, they begin serving dinner at 5 PM. Once 5 o'clock came around, we asked our waitress for a menu and she told us they were not serving dinner at the moment. Eventually, she allowed us to see and order from the menu at 5:40PM. Like what?! I've never experienced such a chaotic mess in the city.
