   We spent a lovely 2 relaxing hours at the end of our day, enjoying a couple of drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are extremely efficient. Prices are a little higher than your average venue but you get what you pay for and the enhanced atmosphere in this bar is well worth the extra money!

   We had an hours wait for our food which was surprising as only 4 or 5 tables in our room were occupied When the sandwiches came the portion was very small ( 3/4 slice of bread each person ) I had requested no butter or spread on my sandwiches but when I opened the sandwich it had spread on it The waiter took it away to rectify the issue My daughters were very hungry so ate their sandwiches so I watched them eat until mine eventually reappeared My daughter ordered a pot of specialty tea but the breakfast tea was brought in error The scones and cakes were very nice except the white chocolate one that tasted of calpol The waiters and hotel was pleasant and welcoming As it was a celebration I was very disappointed in the experience and would not recommend to my friends or family We left and went for a meal elsewhere as my daughters were hungry which isn’t ideal after dining at your restaurant My daughter did complain at the time and 10% was deducted off the bill which we felt wasn’t adequate

   Visited 3 times during a 2 day stay at the hotel. Is very much a luxury cocktail bar with stylish surroundings. Service was excellent with the staff extremely well trained and always attentive. Always busy as it is clearly a go to venue to impress. Had bar food which was nice but menu limited. Price point in line with the surroundings. Only recommendation I would make is for the hotel to do something with the doors. Auto doors tend to stick open allowing a terrible draught into the room, ruins the ambience somewhat on a cold Feb evening.

   I’ve been to the Madeleine bar three times now and mostly it’s really good great atmosphere good service. This time they were quite a few little things that suggested a lack of attention to detail. The waitress bought water but not for everybody in the group , we ordered drinks they didn’t have quite a few ingredients for several cocktails, the overhead light was flickering where we were sat which meant it was distracting and uncomfortable for some people in the group who get migraines with the strobe lighting. To be fair, they did move us to another table. The drinks were okay, but my mother and mother-in-law’s Chablis was warm which you don’t expect for an expensive drink. It just wasn’t up to its usual standard and for somewhere that’s so grand , the bit of decadence and luxury/ pampering it’s just not there on Saturday.

   There is no doubting that the Madeleine is a wonderful setting. Indeed it offsets the extra high prices ( 4 simple cocktails costing over £65) but two disappointing things. The bar menu is very small (snacks) and when you are told a basic such as Croque Monsieur is off the menu then it's hard to understand how that can be. Also, we sat as a couple and had two drinks each but then we are charged a 12.5% service charge ? That felt excessive. The staff are lovely, very attentive and helpful. So big points for that. The setting is beautiful, elegant and decadent. More bonus points for that. Prices are high - but I can justify that to myself because of the fist two points . But service charge is not necessary and leaves a bitter taste. Most of all have your basics in place - a Croque Monsieur should never be off the menu (it's a cheese toastie !!) Overall I still love this place

We are currently in talks with the executive chef about the inconsistencies in our menu and I am hopeful that we will have a solution for it soon.    I have been many times for Afternoon Tea and it never disappoints. Service and food were both excellent. The only thing I would like to say is the bottom of one of the scones was burnt and my friend couldn’t/didn’t want to eat it. We did let the waitress know at the time but only an apology was given.

   I booked afternoon tea in the Madeleine bar for my Mother In Laws 90th Birthday. Beth and her team in the Madeleine bar were outstanding and made the whole experience truly memorable. Excellent food, ambience, service and staff. Definitely 5 stars

    Beautiful setting for afternoon tea, and the service was lovely too. However we were disappointed with the food, particularly the scones were dry (and small) and didn't seem to be freshly baked. The cakes were fine, but all of the same ilk (mousse on biscuit base covered with chocolate) and very sweet. The sandwich fillings were uninspiring. All fine, but definitely not good value, and have had much better experiences elsewhere for less money.
