My friend and I had a fantastic experience at Maggie's for dinner. We both started with the Caesar salad, which were very good, especially the croutons. They have several gluten-free main options, and my friend had the salmon. She said it was fantastic. I had the chicken, which had a really nice sauce. We finished with the chocolate mousse -- it was delicious. I had the house sangria. We agreed that it was like traditional white sangria, with a cider kick because of the apple and cinnamon flavors. The place is intimate and well-appointed, and the service was amazing. We loved it!

First of all, the food was really good. Everything tasted delicious. The only negative I have about the food is the price. We started with the beet and burrata appetizer - tasted great, but we only had 6 very small bites of beets included (equivalent to what you would have from maybe 2 strawberries if you cut them up). For $17 I thought it would have some significant beets! We reserved a table in the main dining room, but when we arrived 5 minutes before our reservation, we were informed there was not enough room there (even with about 4 tables wide open) so we were moved to the back room, which I'm sure is lovely in the summer, but not my favorite in the winter. We were not asked about drink orders until 20 minutes (!!!) after we were seated. It is extremely tight seating so when the table next to us was seated, the woman's fake fur coat actually went in my husband's water glass - again we could not find anyone to replace the water for about 10 minutes - you just feel kind of abandoned out in the enclosed outdoor seating. The music was so loud in such a small space that my husband could not hear me across the table and the heat out there is on timers, which none of the staff ever noticed, so twice we had to get up and turn them back on. None of these factors add up to the fine dining prices they are charging. I understand staffing challenges and not being able to find enough workers but then don't charge so much. It is way too expensive for this level of service.

Very small cramped restaurant. We were sat by the front door where people checked in and they lilteraly were standing almost right on top of us while we’re eating. Very uncomfortable plus the door was constantly being opened and very cold outside!!!

We were seated right by the door so the cold air and noise from waiting guests was annoying. Toward the end of the meal they sat a couple next to us with 2 large dogs, table height which I am not ever sure is legal. Good food , poor judgement.

While the service and atmosphere were both that of a high end restaurant, both my appetizer and main were AWFUL.. The Caesar salad was extremely gritty. Either the lettuce was dirty/sandy or it picked up grit or char from the grill. My pricey ribeye was inedible. I sent it back for more fire because they didn’t cook it charred on the exterior as I ordered. It came back with such an excessive amount of Bernaise sauce smothered over the steak that it was more like a stew. And just like the romaine in our salad, each bite had a gritty texture. Maybe it was coffee grinds from the “coffee rub”? Either way it was bad. The fish appetizer and dessert cocktail were excellent! I so wanted to love this place! The hotel concept sounded awesome.

Maggie’s Restaurant is hands down our favorite spot in South Lake Tahoe. What truly sets this place apart is the warm and welcoming hospitality. Our waitress, Shayla, was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and made sure we had a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend the short rib — it was absolutely phenomenal. The handcrafted cocktails were also a highlight, each one as delicious as the last. We were delighted to learn that the cocktails are named after the pets of their family and friends, adding a personal touch to the menu. Thank you, Maggie’s, for another outstanding evening!
