Magpie is a family owned and operated independent restaurant in Midtown Sacramento. Since 2005, Magpie has served farm to table fare that reflects the values of life in California’s Central Valley. Our menu has an interesting mix of dishes highlighting the season's best offerings of share plates, bites, and entree's.

We are more committed than ever to our mission of celebrating what makes our city and region special, and contributing to it by making seasonal, farm-to-table food in Sacramento.

We are walking distance from California's state capitol building and convention center on the corner of 16th and P Streets overlooking the beautiful tree filled Fremont Park. The lively restaurant space features artwork and murals from local artists with bar, booth and table seating. The open patio has a variety of tall and low tables surrounded by live edge wooden benches and Magpie's iconic yellow umbrellas.

Magpie is again happy to participate in the annual Dine Downtown three course $45 dining experience which runs January 10 - 19 this year. Please see our menu on the Dine Downtown website. Menu available all open hours before 9:00pm. Sorry no modifications available to the menu. Please note each meal will also include an additional $1 as a donation to Alchemists CDC and tax and gratuity are not included in the $45. We will also offer a wine flight.

We took advantage of the Dine Downtown three course dinner with appetizer, salad, main dish with sides and dessert. We opted for the Sea Trout entree with was perfectly prepared with a crispy skin and perfectly roasted winter vegetables. Magpie really sets the standard for relaxed fine dining using locally sourced ingredients. We’re regulars, and look forward to our next experience.

Great service. A cute environment with outdoor seating. Excellent non-alcoholic drinks. Margarita was amazing and non-alcoholic. The steelhead for Dine Sacramento was fabulous. Cooked perfectly.

Loved the food! Had the shrimp and crab salad. Fresh seafood, light on the crab but flavors were well balanced. Would have been helpful if the lettuce was torn into smaller pieces instead of whole leaves. Chicken to share was very good!!! The roasted vegetables went well with the chicken. Drawbacks: hard to find parking. Noise level was really high. Also reservations are highly recommended.

Excellent dining experience! Perfect wine pairing suggestions and you can tell all staff has great insight on what the best bites are. However, I really have never had a bad meal here.

My friends & I did the Dine Downtown menu & everything was great. Our server was delightful & overall, it was a great experience! Food was excellent! One of my favorite spots in Sacramento.

Had a fantastic meal with friends for Dine Downtown week! We absolutely loved the acme bread to start, the sauce on the crispy skin fish was fantastic, and the lemon curd desert was divine! Great service too. 10/10 would recommend.

What a fabulous experience! We haven’t been to Magpie recently but have had great meals in the past. This experience surpassed our expectations. The food was outstanding with a few special offerings for New Year’s Eve. It was the service that made it one that will bring us back. A small intimate setting, perfectly timed coursing, and delicious cocktails. I would highly recommend. I wish I had the forethought to photograph the dishes.
