The food is good, the service is good too. But I believe that the management wants to extort as much money as possible from the customers without accommodating them (for example, if wine is included in your menu, and you are not a wine drinker, they would not even substitute it with water; none of the other 100 odd Restaurants in London I have visited have done this). The service charge is 15% (higher than most restaurants). And they charge you additional for charity contribution, without your consent. I really don't want to go back as none of this is really transparent.

We booked brunch before Xmas shopping. The food was good quality but very simple and there was a complete lack of atmosphere and, despite the crowds outside, people in the place. I referenced my nut allergy and asked for care but one of my sides was served absolutely heaped in mixed seeds. Anyone with a nut allergy will know how unnerving that is; I asked them about it and asked (it was only a peeled avocado on a plate!) if I could have one without the seeds - they came back and assured me it had no nuts but I did not eat it and then they seemed surprised why. Finally, despite being almost completely empty, we waited for ages for someone at the entrance to get our coats and helped ourselves in the end. Disappointing for the price paid.

I took my parents to dinner. I live in Japan and had not seen them in a long while due to the coronavirus pandemic, and so wanted to give them a treat. Following a bottle of champagne to accompany oysters and then foie gras, we had mains of veal and chicken, and chose a Cahors red to go with the main course. Unfortunately the wine we chose (110 pounds) was acrid and sharp, and I sent it back as it was unpleasant. Instead of simply taking the wine back, the head sommelier decided to stand over the table and offer his opinion on this being the style of the wine - which was irrelevant. I responded that I didn’t like it and asked for the waiter to bring three glasses of house red, that was could drink with what remained of the meal. The head waiter offered that I pay for the bottle of returned wine at its retail value, which is an offer I easily and firmly refused. He disappeared and later returned to inform me that they would not be charging me for the bottle, but the unpleasantness of the wine was reflected in the unpleasantness of the service - and unnecessary negotiation - something that shouldn’t happen while at a dinner table. It’s hardly conducive to the creation of a relaxing environment. The delicate ego of the sommelier should not be a factor in a family dinner that costs 300 pounds. The food wasn’t bad. Shame about the service, which may reflect the culture of leadership in the restaurant.

Every thing about our visit was wonderful. We went early, before the theatre so it was quite empty and we had great service and lots of space. The food was amazing. Everything so fresh and flavorful. We’ll definitely be back.

Bit of mixed evening - slow start and bad ending. BAR Great decor but perhaps as we came earliesh (5pm?) was not fully staffed so had to flag down the server to take our order.  OK cocktails but nothing special.  No bar snacks.  We felt ignored.  FOOD  Absolutely great brasserie cuisine.  The chops especially nice as seasoned to perfection and sliced off the bone.  Fun retro (1980s) desert trolley with drawers.  Again excellent food all around. WINE Charming sommelier who listened and recommended a surprisingly and smashing white!  STAFF Heaps of them but not sure they are very well organized.  Friendly but cater and pander (very very obviously) to regulars and celebs.  Made us feel abit 2nd class honestly and we definitely were not the staff's priority.  DOG POLICY  None on website BUT a medium/large poodle nearby us was allowed and it barked and barked loud enough for the entire dining room to notice. The owner nor the staff took any proactive action to resolve this.  Our dessert course was absolutely ruined for 30 minutes.  We did mention to manager and he said he would look into the policy but did not take any action at the time.  We love animals but they belong at home not in a restaurant we paid nearly £300 for dinner!  Utterly unacceptable.  Per Covid this would never happen.  RECOMMENDED Absolutely NOT unless you are a dog lover, lesser royal, cast member of Made in Chelsea or a posh regular who lives round the corner
